Would that any help if i extend his contract duration to 3 years now?

Not really. The player will still retire as planned regardless (when even a contract was signed - wish we could do that to our employers: pay me as of contract but I’m off for retirement holiday early with your pension contribution lol).

All you could hope for is the player somehow wants to extend by end of next season. Maybe giving him some candies would help. Hehe.
