I'm currently playing in level 5 and I had bought an 18 yr old mc when I was in level 3,I made him learn the playmaker ability and currently he's of 32 quality....In 13 games he played so far,he scored just 1 goal and assisted twice...How long do I keep giving him chance to prove himself or should I call it a day and sell him and get a better replacement ?

I am level 5 too, so i might be able to help.
What is his worth? look at other 20 yo in the Transfer list and compare the worth to the best and verify if he is a fast trainer. If he is, then he is worth keeping. I have a 20yo I was lucky to get for 5 tokens(and I mean lucky, 39Q and 2 pts from 40Q!):
If your 20yo is worth as much as this or more, then keep him and train the bugger. He will be around for a few years. Just put it down to him having a bad year.
If he is worth less than this, it is debatable to keep him. Buy someone to replace him, then sell him. Or put him in reserves and see if someone will buy him for a few tokens, which is better than nothing and just money on the transfer list.
He's worth just below 3 m,I just saw my auction list and found a 20 yr old 33 quality striker who's worth 3.53 m
You were really lucky with that player I must say..I hardly see any 4/5 star players in my auction list and hence I have no other choice and hence I resort to buying 3 star players,can't buy scout players or indulge in negotiations because I have a limited token supply of 35 tokens per season..

Check his ratings. Its a mc not a st, scoring his secondary and also depends on which module and which way you play. If you play through flanks ei why should he score more?
If his rates are good, no reason to trash him. Might be a reserve if you buy a better player, at max.
Keep in mind that mcs stats should be all balanced. An mc too much oriented in att/ phy might score more and perform good but when your opponent will push he will less likely recover the ball. MCs are supposed to be versatile.
32Q is a bench player, or should be. You should have players of 35Q+ for your first team in lvl 5. If he is one of your better players, then he is worth keeping since he is a medium trainer, which is ok. Keep him until he dies or you find someone better.Originally Posted by Morgan O'Bree
Yeah...but sadly I can't find them 35 q players in auction so I have to make the players at my hand reach 35 q...
some players are reaching 35q while few others [players from season 1/3/4] are a bit behind the 35q target.
Ahan,I think you might have just helped me with the issue at hand...At times I do play with attacking wingers and use passing on both flanks as main priority...
his ratings improved from the 4's and 5's [at the start of the season] to 6's and 7's in the last 5 games and I concentrated mainly on improving his attacking and physical & mental skills,didn't pay much attention to his defending skills...Will keep in mind to balance between the 3 skills from now onwards for my midfielders..Thanks
