Missing in game friends

I just realized that more than 80% of my in game friends have been removed from my friend list. I used to have 100+ friends but it's now just 31.

Did anyone else experience this?

Edit:
I tried to add some important friends through the friendly championship from last season, but the game reloads each time I click the add friend button and the request fails. WTF!
