Imagine my scenario then. I have an early kick-off and if I win, I go 3 points clear at the top. My big rival (and friend), plays their match tonight and could pass me again, on goal difference. Now my dilemma. I am friends with BOTH of the teams in his final match so by supporting one, I will be snubbing the other. Plus, my rival for the championship, nearly always comes along and cheers for me when in the cup competitions.

So, although it will go against me, I will NOT be cheering for my rival's opponent. I believe in true sportsmanship / friendship.

I have just done this. I was 1 point behind in 2nd going into the last day of the season and I was playing first and won 1-0. I then went watched his game and supported the team he was playing the team I supported won 3-2 and I won the league!!!!

Its not going to show in your trophy room that you finished 2nd but you were a good sport not supporting against your rival!!! I finished 1st and have that showing in my trophy room, thats what matters.

lol people are completely ignoring the moral side of it. if the op is new to the forum he'll realise it was probably a pointless topic

I always believe, "what goes around, comes around". If I go and support an opponent of a rival team, then I would expect them to do the same to me. How many times on here have we seen posts, complaining about the number of supporters turning up to cheer for their opponents?

And as I said in another thread, I do not believe the number of people watching has any bearing on the match result at all.

I guess it would reflect in real life like a manager who is too busy having a life to attend the matches of his charges, therefore demoralising them and reducing their ability to hold possession.
Every game needs its own way to reward more avid players, and if a gamer doesnt have the time to play the game as much as his counterparts... its only fair that he doesnt reap the rewards that others do... dont you think?

I don't really premeditate these things. If I happen to see a live match, I always support underdogs. I'm not sure if it ever worked out though. Most if not all of them lost. If that happened to me, my mentality would be "If you lost with -2% possession, who's to say you would have won without it." That's just me though. Luckily I have enough of a cushion that I rested 9 starters for the last two matches.

Your scenario is different really, between existing friend clubs, but what if it was a stranger team competing for the title... would you support against them then?

in my league, the top 2 play each other today, both have the same gd and points, i will be supporting against the guy who tried befriend me. as i can only think he wanted to play friendlies and generally f*ck me over. so as has been said, what comes around, goes around and ill be supporting his opponent who will hopefully get the draw he needs to win the title.

yes! hahaha. he drew 1-1. what made it even better was that he was there to watch it happen, so he knows i was there supportng the other guy. even his 10% home advantage wasnt enough. he loses the title by 3 goals!
