So that it is refusing to automatically
Because it comes at a difficult time and before important games
And cause stress and injuries to the players

No, they are "accept automatically" so you can't refuse them unless you unfriend your friends.

They are apparently going to change it so at least it doesn't hurt the invitee....

Somehow I managed to cancel a friendly match yesterday.
Just check your rounds section and you should see the upcoming friendly match. Theres a small ''X'' and you should be able to cancel the match from there.

if you wont delete this friend.... your only option, is to talk him, and say that u won't friendlies... or put your worst players when you don't play....
