My understanding is, you should only play offside trap if your opponent does not have any Attacking Midfielders. If opponent plays any AMs (AMR,AMC,AML), no off side trap.

Luskin, why do you say that? I play offside traps if my goalkeeper is better than the opposing forwards, and if I'm playing a high line, whole pitch pressure.

There are give away commentaries within the game to tell you if the OS trap is working or not.
"Long clearance up field by X player XX is through on goal, scores, not working, 'player XXX stands his ground wins the ball' had to make the challenge he was the last man'
I use it when in attack mode but only if my defenders and DM players are faster than his.
If they are not then I just put down arrows on at least on DC and play without it.

Having said that the comments are repeated so often it is not 100% that any tactic is working or not. Random comments, random results, random injuries. LOL!
