Could have got moved to here because we've been getting posts in this section about the commentary -- and it's easier to join them to this thread if they are in the same section.
Here are a few from today's game. All in English.
Current: "[Defender] tackles and take both the ball and the player"
Should be: "[Defender] tackles and takes both the ball and the player"
Comment: Subject-verb agreement.
Current: "[Team] has a lot of space in the opposing half! He could counter-attack"
Should be: "[Team] has a lot of space in the opposing half! They could counter-attack"
Comment: Teams are not a guy. They are several guys, sometimes as many as eleven at once.
Current: [On a corner kick] "[Player 1] kicks a weak centre pass/[Player 2] throws himself in for the header!"
Should be: "[Player 1] kicks a soft centre pass/[Player 2] throws himself in for the header!"
Comment: Or possibly a "short" pass. A weak corner isn't going to be at head height by the time it reaches the box.
Current: [On a corner kick] "It's a chance! But [Player] arial defense dominates"
Should be: "It's a chance! But [Player] aerial defense dominates"
Comment: Aerial is an adjective. Arial is a font.
Current: "[Player] is trying to dribble passed his opponents"
Should be: "[Player] is trying to dribble past his opponents"
Comment: Typo.
And one from the nightcap. Still English.
Current: "[Player 1] leaves the field accompanied by a standing ovation/[Player 2] gets comes into the game"
Should be: "[Player 1] leaves the field accompanied by a standing ovation/[Player 2] comes into the game"
Comment: Too many verbs, my dear Mozart.
Had another one that struck me as odd. I didn't take notes at the time, so these are paraphrases.
First: "[Player] is injured and has to be stretchered off! It didn't seem that serious at first"
Me: Oh crap. OK, put in a sub for him...
Then: "[Substitute] comes in. [Injured Player] goes off and is not too happy about it!"
The only other time I've seen that second status is when I pull someone who's having a good game. Dude, you don't get to complain about being subbed out if you can't stand up. You are not Monty Python's Black Knight.
Reserved...
Hebrew translation of comments is just awful. It looks like you let a young child to write the sentences. Between the words can be found curses like cock, maniac and names of people that don't have connection to the game.
Here are some tips for a better translation
8. it's not Heb.
and you must use align right. Hebrew is written from right.
