Was your previous account connected somewhere, i.e. Google Play/Game Centre/Facebook?

If you had a new account, you can't go back.
I had a similar case with an abandoned team/account.
A new team was created from LV1 and I lost all my tokens (500) + packs.
At least didn't loose some old unique emblems/jerseys.
Support answered that they can't do nothing.

It was linked with google play. But when I accidentally linked it to the same account. When it asked to overwrite or new, I clicked new and could not revert.

Yes it was connected with Google play. I might have accidentally overwritten it. If this can be reverted I would be very happy to get my account back. It was more than 10 lvls and I am lvl 1 now.

I don't think you understand everything. It actually depends on how they store the account info. If they have history records of the accounts they can easily revert back to a previous stage. Also, it is a good practice to have history recorded for various purposes.

I would wait to hear it from them and the reasoning behind it.

Nope, nothing can be done in these cases, If it's the same account that you've not used for months or so, and now you've loged in again, simply, your team start again.
