3N-1(DMC)-3N-2W(AML/AMR)-1 ...... use def/normal mentality (suggest defensive in first half), down both flanks ,own half pressing , long ball , counter attack on , offside off , hard tackling, zonal marking.........IN MY OPINION......

My first time post, I'm level 6 on the phone game (not sure if this makes a difference and is the same version you all play). I've got someone in my league who beat me twice last season and who I'm yet to play again but I was after some advice before we meet again this season.

He plays 4-3N-1-2 and I always counter with 4-5-1 V-Style. My settings are defensive, force counter and attack down the wings. He beats me both times with relative ease. Our teams are more or less the same quality, I would even say mine has the edge 43.8 v 41.8. The orignal post shows my formation is good to counter his setup, are there any more tips to make the contest a little more even?
Lost 2-0 playing 4-3N-2AML/R-1 as per first post knowing I've lost to him with 4-5-1V before

Yeah, closing the center and using the flanks offensively is the key. 3-5V-2 should work, 3-DMC-3N-2W-1 is an alternative option that gives additional stability in the central midfield. Both formations at equal teams with normal/defensive mentality, mixed/long passing, down both flanks, pressing own half.

N is for Narrow - three central players next to each other, eg. MC-MC-MC or DC-DC-DC
    while
W is for Wide - left, center and right, eg. ML-MC-MR or DL-DC-DR.

Thanks for your comments, Chris Rath & July Fourth.

Right before the start of the match my opponent changed his formation to Narrow: 3-2-3-1-1 which is an illegal formation.
I started with 3-5V-1 but he took the lead with a goal in 24th minute. I missed a penalty in the beginning of the second half. Then I changed to 4-2-2-2 HEX which is usually very strong formation for me. Still nothing. So I was desperate and in the 65th I changed to 3N---2-3W-2. My team had twice more Total & Shots on Target but I managed to score in the 89 min eventually. It was a F*** draw! A complete disaster.

I hope Jose will be on my side tomorrow when we will play away from home in the second leg.
