In my league I watched 2 players beating 4-1-3W-2 quite high (3-0, 4-0) with 4-1-3W-1-1. All teams have about the same quality and the 4-1-3W-2 player is active. Could it be a counter?

3N-5-2 V-Style does not counter 4-1-2-1-2 (Narrow Diamond)...you should delete this because it can really screw someone up..
Aloha, guys!
Tomorrow The Arsenal meets a stronger team in the Cup playoffs - 26.4 vs. 27.6.
Any good thoughts about counter formation? His formation is 4-2N-2N-1-1

I am thinking about 3N-5V-2 with passing by flanks.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks and good luck in the playoffs!
P.S. The actual avg. quality of the starting players is 29.6 vs. 29.4.
Yeah, closing the center and using the flanks offensively is the key. 3-5V-2 should work, 3-DMC-3N-2W-1 is an alternative option that gives additional stability in the central midfield. Both formations at equal teams with normal/defensive mentality, mixed/long passing, down both flanks, pressing own half.
i think 3w-4-3 is quite good against 4-1-2-1-2
sorry for bring a noob here.. but whats with the 'w's and the 'n's .. what do they stand for? .. so that i can slowly understand how to beat formations. as it seems its down to that, due to me having alot more higher stats than the opponant and always having 1 formation
N is for Narrow - three central players next to each other, eg. MC-MC-MC or DC-DC-DC
while
W is for Wide - left, center and right, eg. ML-MC-MR or DL-DC-DR.

Thanks for your reply, Chris Rath. My game is in three hours. I will post result after.
Hi,
My first time post, I'm level 6 on the phone game (not sure if this makes a difference and is the same version you all play). I've got someone in my league who beat me twice last season and who I'm yet to play again but I was after some advice before we meet again this season.
He plays 4-3N-1-2 and I always counter with 4-5-1 V-Style. My settings are defensive, force counter and attack down the wings. He beats me both times with relative ease. Our teams are more or less the same quality, I would even say mine has the edge 43.8 v 41.8. The orignal post shows my formation is good to counter his setup, are there any more tips to make the contest a little more even?
Thanks for your comments, Chris Rath & July Fourth.
Right before the start of the match my opponent changed his formation to Narrow: 3-2-3-1-1 which is an illegal formation.
I started with 3-5V-1 but he took the lead with a goal in 24th minute. I missed a penalty in the beginning of the second half. Then I changed to 4-2-2-2 HEX which is usually very strong formation for me. Still nothing. So I was desperate and in the 65th I changed to 3N---2-3W-2. My team had twice more Total & Shots on Target but I managed to score in the 89 min eventually. It was a F*** draw! A complete disaster.
I hope Jose will be on my side tomorrow when we will play away from home in the second leg.
