Great thread, but I could not find this tactic, I have seen quite often recently.

Untested but 3N-1-3W-2N-1 would counter it, how effectively is a different matter.
Or 3N-1-3W-1-2, think the first would be better with the stronger MF.

I call that the reverse/inverted 3-5-2 V... Seen it a few times, quite defensive but Accyrover has the solution

I thought the butterfly was effective against 4-2-2-2 hexagon... It seems the logical choice to me because the DML and DMR block their AML and AMR, the 2 MCs mark their MCs and that leaves you with 3 DCs against 2 strikers. And it's effective on the counter as your AML/AMR will hurt their DL/DR.

I'm not too sure about 3N-1-4-2 against it as it seems quite dodgy at the back against their AML/AMR. But I will test this tomorrow in the CL. I play against a 4-2-2-2, first half will be butterfly and if that doesn't work I will switch to 3N-1-4-2. I will inform you of my findings.

I'm not so sure about that, on the defence your DL and DR will remain as they are, which could be a problem. You could play a DL as DMR and DL as DMR... As long as it's for one match then it's fine

I lost 0-3 and i confirmed if 3-1-4-1-1 or 3-1-5-1 and 4-5-1v motivated are the best against him.....using butterfly he owned the possession a lot....

I don't have an MR in my team because I focus on AML/AMR attacking, so are you sure 4-5-1 V can beat it?

that butterfly sucks a lot ... i tested more then one time and failed always !

i think 4-5-1 V have some chance as he didn't have any player to cover the flank.
I only have it around 32 skill and he has around 40.
I might have to play some defensive-counter mode.
What do you think?
