One of your MC's should have a red arrow and the other one- a blue one.. No arrows on your DMC's
Or 4-2(DMC)-3(W)-1 with red arrows on all of your wide players.
    Or this one:
    ----ST----ST-----
    ------------------
    ML-MC-MC-MC ----
    -------------------
----DC-DC-DC-DR , which Razvan Rzv suggested, only with blue arrows onat least two of your CM's, and no red arrows.
Or replace one of the ST's with a DMC, place a blue arrow on one of your MC's and red ones on your more attacking MC.
    GL!
Thank for your advices. I will let you know the result. Thanks alots :-X

Well, your opponent's using 2 AMC, so your DMC will really need all the help he can get. Which means a blue arrow on at least one of yor MC's, maybe even both. This is the main thing, other than attacking the flanks (he's fielding only DC's).
So: normal mentality, passing down both flanks, pressing own half, normal tackling, mixed passing and zonal marking. Red arrows on your wide players, blue on your CM's. No arrows on your DMC.
Also: you can put blue arrows on you CD (I do, most of the time) and if you're the underdog, you can use defensive mentality, long passes and counter-attacks.
This is what i would do, still, this game's engine is a really weird one. Sometimes it generates really random sh*t, so everything's possible.
    GL!

I played 4-2(DMC)-3(W)-1 with my friend and lost 1-0 in the second half. My friend Q is 22 and my Q is 19. So I think whether we can play with this formation to counter 4-1-2(AMC/AMC)-1 or not?

    ---- DC DC(down) DC ----
    DMR(up) DMC(down) DML(up)
    ----- MC -----
    AMR ---- ---- AML
    ST

Another question. Can I counter 4-1DMC-1MC-2W(AML/AMR)-2 with 3-2-2-2-1 buffterfly?

I have faced a lot of games against managers with 4-4-2 formation, and I've used 4-4-1-1
It seems to work very well, I've won all the games vs weaker and stronger teams.
I've used those suggested formations, but none seems to work better than 4-4-1-1

today i have to beat a 4-3W-1-2 and found the counter 4-1-4-1 at this forum

    for tactics I selected:
    mentality: defensive
    focus passing. through the middle
    pressing style : whole opitch
    tackling style: normal
    passing style: short
    force counterattacks: x
    play offsied trap: x

could this be the right way against a strong opponent???

    thanks for your help!

so, the game is over and I lost 0:3.
    certainly the possession was 50:50
i think, a second striker was missing.

any ideas for the second leg??

With Troll F.C. I simulated the 4-3-2W-1 with a motivated 4-5-1 against a slightly stronger 4-5-1 V-style and lost 1-3 at home, so that did not work. I will try one of the counter formations in the returning leg, but chances are sadly slim to reach the cup final.

Well, too bad I didn't read your post earlier.
Counter-attacking tactics and short passing (especially through the middle) are like Millwall and West Ham fans. With 4-1-4-1 your orders shoud've been something like this:
    normal/defensive mentality
    passing- mixed/down both flanks
    pressing- own half
    tackling- normal
    passes-mixed/long
    marking-zonal
I don't like the "force counter" order and absolutely hate the "offside trap" one, so I don't use them.
For the re-match you shoud use a more attacking setup, like the 3-1-4-2, attacking mentality, mixed passing, pressing- whole pitch, hard tackling, mixed passes, zonal marking and only if your CD's are quick- offside trap!
