    It will make sense after you have seen them awhile.

    "W" means Wide, "N" Narrow.. as in 2W would be wings an 2N would be mids.

    "V" style means the players form a V on the field. Help new.-v.jpg

    Many formations are named for what design it looks like, ND, is Narrow Diamond Help new.-nd.jpg,

    there is also Wide Diamond.Help new.-wd.jpg

    So 4 3N 2W 1 Means 4 at the back, 3 Mids, 2 Attacking wings, and a Striker.
