you can use any formation that focus on the wingers like 4-5-1 V Style:

    ---------ST--------
    AML---------AMR
    -----MC--MC---
    ------DMC-----
    DL-DC-DC-DR

Another variation by using the 4-3-2-1:

    4-3-2-1

    ---------ST-------
    AML---------AMR
    ---MC-MC-MC---
    --DL-DC-DC-DR--

    3-3-2-2
    --------ST----ST-----
    AML--------------AMR
    ----MC--MC--MC----
    -----------------------
    ----DC--DC--DC----

but you need to focus on down both flanks and mixed passing , whole pitch offside trap .. no counter attack.

    when talking about 4 3 1 2 you can you use 4-3-2-1

    ------ST-------
    AML(UP)---AMR(UP)
    ---MC-MC-MC---
    --DL-DC-DC-DR--

Mixed passing .. down both flanks .. no counter attack no offside trap .. and it's depending also on the quality of your players and the quality of the opponent ... I hope you can win with this formation ...

    I used this 4-5-1 v style against 3-1-4-2 draw?

how do you beat a 3-1-4-2 formation? I used the 4-5-1 v style and a draw was the best i could get. I was at home watched the game my team 5 star his 4 star?? thanks.

I have used this in the past and it has worked. Thanks to Adel Gamal for the post.

    4-5-1 V style

    Mentality: Defensive
    Passing: Long, down both flanks
    Pressing: Own half
    Tackling: Normal
    Marking: Zonal
    Counter attack: ON
    Offside trap: OFF

    If drawing/losing:

Add attacking red arrows to your DL, DR, AML and AMR

    Mentality: Normal or attacking
    Passing: Mixed, down both flanks

    Rest is the same.

I'm struggling against those that play 4-1-3-2 narrow (3 MCs). These are the suggested tactics:

Both times I have used the 4-5-1 V style I have ended up drawing. Has anyone got any more tips? I'm not sure that pressing whole pitch and playing off-side trap works?

4-3-2-1 does it for me all the time

How do you beat teams who have a 3-2-2-2-1 formation?

He changed his formation a bit to this now.

    ----DC--DC--DC---
    -DMR----------DML--
    ----MC-------MC----
    ------------------AML--
    ----ST--------ST

It beat me in the first leg of the cup and I have a better team

His other formation he had an AMC instead of the ST
