I'd never play 3W Defensive again 2 ST.
With the above formation red arrow on his MR takes your DL out of the game leaving his ST 2 V 1 in the centre especially as you have pushed your DR up.

Simple formations to counter his would be.

    3-4-3, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-2-1.
    All with 3 DC's

He's is just played as a 5-3-2, so he should be defending with counter, attacking is the right option but not leaving only one at the back.

hmm ... i almost lost against a 4-3-3 wide, while playing the 4-1-4-1
even though my Team got a Strenght of 42 and his of 36 ... so maybe u should try the

    --ST-ST-ST--
    ML---MC---MR
    DL-DC--DC-DR
    -----GK------

not exactly sure about the tactics
maybe someone more expirienced can tell you

Does anybody have more on this ? Like tactics and so on ? And is this really the best against 4-1-4-1 ? I really need to win this one to take back my first place in the competition

4 5 1 V stile motivated using normal mentality, zonal marking, whole pitch, down both flanks, no counterattack and no offside trap.

    Countered by 3-2-2-2-1

    DC-DC-DC
DML(UP)-DMR(UP) (If using DL/DR as DML/DMR, remove the red arrows)
    MC-MC
AML-AMR (Red arrows if AML/AMR also play as strikers and you want some extra punch)
    ST

Short passing, through the flanks, attacking mentality, zonal marking,
pressing whole pitch with offside trap.
    OR
Own Half, counter attack, defensive, mixed passing

    Other formations :

3-1-4-2 and 3-1-4-1-1 using normal mentality, zonal marking, own half, short passing, normal tackling, no counterattack and no offside trap.

    -----MC----- <---- up
    ----DMC------ <---- down(?)
    DL-DC--DC-DR <---- DL/R up

this means you lost the control on ball buy playing with only one MC.

if you can play with 4 3 2 1 it will be great and red Arrows at AMR/L this means you play with 1 basic striker and 2 coming from back so it will works good ... and by playing with 3 MCs this means you also will control the game at med and forward.

Orders : normal mentality ... mixed passing ... counter attack ... offside trap.
    and good luck
