Seeing as your opponent is top, they must be decent. I'd say normal, you can try defensive at first if you wish and see if you're dominating possession. I'm pretty sure counter attack isn't so good as they've got a DM, but you can experiment by putting it on and seeing if it improves things, but only if playing defensive.
As for arrows, I'd say none at first. You can put up arrows on your DMs if you're not winning to be more attacking. Then up arrows on your AMs if that's not enough. At this point you'd effectively be playing 3-4-3 due to the up arrows. Switch orders to attacking and whole pitch too.

It suggests 3W-2DMC-3N-1-1 Effiel Tower or 3N-5-2 Flat. Short passing, no off side, no counter, mentality depends on opponent, try normal to start, and change to attacking if you need to score. Press own half, but use press whole pitch if attacking. If he is stronger, you could start defensive. Focus passing where you are strong and/or he is weak. These orders should work for your 4-3-2-1 formation too.
How to beat 4-4-1-1. My Q better than his team.

Should this work? I'm happy with at least a draw :)

I have a HUGE game in the CUP Semifinals and need HELP ASAP! :(
My opponent is 3 levels better than me and has a squad quality of 120 (mine is 108).
He plays classic 4-4-2 Attachment 2811
And I need a good tactic that will surprise him. I play at HOME and I was thinking of this tactic: Attachment 2812
But I have no ideea of what Team Orders to use or what Tactic is best. I know that 4-5-1 V is the best against 4-4-2 clasic but I want to win the game 'cause I know that away from home he will beat me :(
So PLEASE HELP me. Take a look at my players and give me a great tactic along with some team orders to win or at least draw against this team.
I have to add that my players all have SUPER Morale and 99 Condition. I will also give them MAX Win Bonus and will watch the game with another 3 friends.

I would play 4-3N-2(AMR-AML)-1, red arrows on DL,DR and middle MC blue, mentality normal, mixed passing, press whole field, mixes passing and counter on, that works for me to counter the narrow diamond, played it 3 times, scored 13 goals and a clean sheet :)

hello...it's my first post on this forum..:Di like the idea of this thread...and i need also some help.. i have a match today in CL.. I missed the first leg match 3-0 ..I played away .. Now he uses the 4-3-1-2 formation and quality team has the 40.7 and my team have 39.5 not a big difference ... What band do you think should I use to manage to beat him? Please help me..
damn, i have about 40 formation and possible counter formation....and this one i didnt have ;)
but 4-5-1V Motivated should work. red arrows on AML-R and DMC. defensive, over flanks, counter, mixed passing.
