I have been beating 4 4 2 with a 3W 2DMC 3W 2St lately, you could give it a try, normal, mixed, mixed, counter on, zonal, low press, normal tackling.

Like Bunzo, I always play 4-5-1V against 4-4-2 and lost once in maybe 30 games. This is probably the best specific counter I know with 3N-1-3N-2WAM-1 for 4-3-3 (which is defeatless for me). That does not mean you are going to win but you are certain to have all the cards in hands.
