4-5-1 V-style is a very versatile formation. A counter depends on the arrows set by the other manager.

If the system is unmotivated, you can play for example the butterfly (3N-2W-2-2W-1) to block his wingers, to gain a possession bonus in midfield and to attack him over the wing with single covered offensive wingers. The unmotivated version is usually played as a counter-orientated tactic with mixed passing.

If he motivates his wingers you need 4 defenders or you have to pressure the whole pitch to let him not come to offense. The motivated is usually played with short passing.

It really depends. Maybe it helps, if you post your squad and the one of the opponent. Then have a basis to talk about mentality and style of passing, too.
