How to counter 4-4-2

I also played against a similar level team that played 4-4-2.

My team:
Formation: 4-5-1 (V) = GK - DL,DC,DC,DR - DMC - MC,MC - AML,AMR - ST
Arrows: DL↑, DR↑
Team Mentality: Hard Attacking
Focus Passing: Down both flanks
Pressing Style: Whole pitch
Tackling Style: Hard
Passing Style: Mixed
Marking Style: Zone
Force counterattacks: NO
Play offside trap: NO

After I scored I switched to Normal mentality with counterattacks, and he switched to 3-5-2 (Flat) and immediately scored back for 1-1. I switched back to Hard Attacking with no counterattacks, I scored for 2-1 and switched my formation to 4-1-4-1 with hard defending 25 minutes before the final whistle.

I won 2-1.

narrow diamond does not work good with 442 any more i use 433 and worked good!!

ppl are talking about formation as if it is so important,.... i think 65 % of result is squad quality,.. and 25% is luck and may be 5% for formation assuming u dont play with a crab formation,..... assuming condition and morale etc ,.. are the same

Hello everyone .. i have a game tonight .. after 4 hours .. my AMC is injured, so i cannot use the normal narrow diamond 4-1-2-1-2
so i thought of a 4-1-3-2 to counter a team with 4-4-2 formation, same quality
