Very nice to get a feedback with a great result there for you. Obviously not as good as the 5 goals we would have hoped for, but then 3 goals net win against a superior quality team is a clear indicator that the team setup is spot on. The possession of 72% vs 38% before tells its story - to get a 5-0 win would require 40% of total shots to go in and that’s the extra luck needed.
The difference of setup with AML/R and ML/MR would not be too huge if you pull both back to both the ML/MR region, especially when 2 MCs and AMC are covering more than enough in MC area that the 2 MCs could still manage to close those gaps in defensive mode.
And thanks for your compliment, though there are lots of managers way better than me out there. We all learned through mistakes before and can only get better.
Do ask for specifics here, especially when there are important ties. Take care too!
One last note on players and positions - we all have a fair value in T-worth and preference of a few favourite formations, hence players that we would look at. For me, both non-defender flank players must be both ML/AML(R), because they can play:
a) conventional wide ML + MR to take advantage of space out wide against no ML/MR formations
b) packed ML + MR close to middle with 1 MC to win against 2 MCs formation
c) when chasing goals, then push them as forward as 3ST (middle) or wide wingers if needed
d) when defending 1-goal lead, pulled both back to close to DL & DR region, along with 3DCs + 1 DMC - very difficult to break down 3-3 in defensive mode with limited time
The extra in-game without-sub benefits above alone is worth a few more T.![]()
