    When do we use short and different passes?

    Hello, when are short passes used? long or mixed? counterattack only in defensive play?

    Short when you want to control possession and works better when you have amc.
    Long better with counter attacks or when you want to overcome crowded flat midfield like in 4-5-1 flat. Or when oppo plays with 3 cb than focusing down flanks with long passes could work well.
    Force counters can work both in defensive and normal mentalities.

    I suggest you to read some old guides in this forum about tactics. Could try this https://forum.topeleven.com/formatio...%A6-guide.html

    its all code and probablity,

    counterattack - reduce possesion (more likely enemy will be attacking)
    But increase counterattack chance = (Mentality) * (Whatever the actual rate)

    All my numbers is not accurate but concept.
    Lets say Actual rate is every attack have 10% chance to counter attack
    Normal mentality is base = 1
    Attacking = 1.1
    defensive = 0.9

    So if your opponent is
    Normal 1 * 10% = 10% chance coutner attack
    Defensive 0.9 * 10% = 9% chance counter attack
    Attacking 1.1 * 10% = 11% chance counter attack

    Then maybe force counter attack is 1.5 multiplier.
    enemy attacking mentality 11%*1.5 = ~17% chance. compare to a normal 10%

    passes work the same also, like maybe pass success rate = 70%
    pass rate * type of pass * passing skill of the player itself = the success rate
    70% * short pass (1.1) * (1.1) = 84%

    all are examples , there is probably some other more detailed thread maybe.
