I played 4-4-2 against 4-2-3W-1 in the first leg of the Cup, which we all know anything can happen, but it worked for me. Both of our teams are of a similar quality too (my 43.3 against his 44.0), but won 2-1 at home and had 60% of the possession. I will say that my starting eleven is only slightly better though, and I did watch the game, whilst he had a supporter. As always, the scoreline should have been more, but my second striker was having an off-day and actually missed a couple of clear chances! Not knowing how the second leg will swing as it is the Cup, I would use 4-4-2 again though, but lets reserve judgment for now though. ^_^
Orders used:
Normal Mentality
Down Both Flanks
Whole Pitch Pressing
Normal Tackling
Long Passing (because 4-2-3-1 is quite offensive and he were coming forward a lot, so I needed to get the ball away quickly and to my forwards)
Zonal Marking
No Counter Attack
No Offside Trap
Would be interested to see more feedback from others on their experience of countering 4-2-3-1.
