How do you choose your captain?

And what purpose does this screening, interviews and process serve? How does the captain actually influence or aid the team?

(Not Funny.... I chose my captain, in winter only, in a tall large glass, with a lemon slice and cola)

Captain is a honor, i don't expect anything from such a things. but in my captain list from #1-#3 they always perfom excellent 7-8-9. i have never had i bad captain.
