Only thing I can say is that sometimes one can feel that the team is more aggressive than usually, and in this case, is good (well... always is good idea) to do substitutions, and change who have yellow card to avoid situations like this.
I had some experience, in some matches I saw that one player or some are trying to kill somebody and when one have this sensation, if one, can see this detail, one have to do something. I don't know exaclty what sensation u had, but, keep that in mind because sometimes happen. That's a simulation game, and, the game, select the conditions (between some variables) before the match.
(like all games, to work, and do the simulation in one way)

Probably there was a spitting between 2 players (Spitting on opponent its a nasty habit) and the referee got confused just like the ARSENAL match and gave 2 RED card to player of the same team......

Seems more like a boxing fight to me - when punches start to fly is hard to stop!
