I've been using attacking mentality over the past 2 seasons without any issues.
Had been having trolled results earlier this season though, loosing to teams way lower quality than me (3 star difference), which other team (also lower quality than me) manage to beat 10-0. I was knock-off the CL and CUP early which the above had greatly contributed as well.

Subsequently, I started using Defending Mentality with Counter attack (even against much weaker teams), and have not been trolled since. Not sure logically if changing the mentality works, but it sure helps.

striker casually playing in defence and earning an 8 rating... what a prick.. Also my penalty specialist "Sergio Ramos'd" a penalty... *facepalm*

what makes it worse is that this guy played someone yesterday, same formations and lost 2-4 at home..

Bah, in every match I get an injury and once the player is injured my opponent scores a goal.
I have no problem with loosing to good active teams, but your match engine fails p*ss me off, Nordef*ck.

what sucks is that you can't substitute straight away, it takes a good 10mins usually before your sub will come on... GRRRRRRRR

Jinxed myself Dalglish out injured with a broken foot. 6 days. Keeper picks up Strain in training - 2 days.

what I don't understand about this game and what annoys me the most is that this game seems to be rigged in the sense that the winners of leagues and championship are already determined long before they are officially winners. Explain to me somebody from technical support, how can I have a better team, better quality, better strategy and loosing to teams that are worse off than me? A and to make matters worse how is it that it is when I have important matches that I must win that this happen regularly? next how in Gods name can I have a team where I win three straight matches then one by one in those games my best players are all injured, out for many days? one particular player got injured in one match I rehabilitate him and by the next match he is injured out for the rest of the season? and all those injuries to my players nobody gets a yellow card for that? this game isn't realistic at all. in the space of four matches I lost all my top players that don't happen in the real world.

I apologize for venting. Can someone explain the logic behind this though?

I lost the CL Final today 1:3. I understand losses happen and are part of the game. What I don't understand is the way it happened. I scored first to take a 1:0 lead. Then one of his players proceeded to get injured (26th min) and auto-sub wasn't on, next he equalized 1:1. Midway through the second half he took a 1:2 lead. Then around the 80th minute my opponent took a 2nd injury, proceeding to score a 3rd goal a few minutes later.

My team was slightly stronger (51.7 to 47.6 for starting 11) His formation was a 4-3n-1-2, I played 4-1-4-1 motivated, when the second goal was scored, I changed to a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond. I watched the match, my opponent didn't. Both their injured players were MC's. I apologize for the vent, I just don't understand how three goals were scored against my defense by someone reduced to 10 players, then 9.
