Seems to me arrows don't have an effect on free kicks. The commentary preceding th FK seems to dictate how it is taken. If they say "FK awarded on the right", it will be a cross. If they say "FK given at the edge of the box," it's going to be a shot on goal.

The honest answer my friend is that nobody knows for a fact what the answer to your question is, but as you can see above there are always people ready to give their opinion based on no facts whatsoever as to what the answer is

You could be right that arrows have no effect. But imo the decision is made on what is a cross or shot before the comment rather than the other way around - comments are feedback, whether real of just fluff for the reader. My question remains regarding opinions on whether arrows play a factor in deciding if you will see the comment "awarded on the right" > its a cross; or "on the edge of the box" > its a shot.

Do you think that arrows impact on specific actions like free-kicks? Previously my free-kick specialist was a DL/DC who was frequently motivated to attack. I got the impression that he shot direct at goal more often than he crossed. I now have a free-kick specialist DC/DMC who is frequently motivated to defend. I similarly get the impression that he crosses from free-kicks more often than he shoots. Ofc I don't know where the free-kicks are being taken from but - any thoughts?
It is hard really to say!, you could say ok I have a certain players with reds so they are going forward and are getting more of the ball in attacking areas, are in areas where they are more likely to score, win free kicks, corners etc!, but thier are people on here that believe the computer predicts results and so they have no or little effect!, my view is yes they do as why have them in the game at all?!.

Every comment I make on this forum is based on my own experiences and so should be taken as such!.

Thanks Skidz. Even if its not true I at least feel that it might be worthwhile giving free-kick duties to another more attack motivated player when I require my DMC FK specialist to be more defensive - so I will. If I observe its worse, I'll change it.

If i put a red arrow on a dmc and a blue arrow on mc, does this mean they're swapping position?

No, it means while attacking the dmc converts to another mc and while defending the mc supports the defense. In defense the dmc still is defending the red is just once u attack, same with blue arrows at any offense player. Only while defending they go back

Oh. Never thought of that. Haha it got me confused this whole time. I also learnt that putting a blue arrow on DCs makes them play as a sweeper. After doing this, i noticed that my DCs' names are being mentioned more on the comment bar than i was without it. Does the arrow really affects this?

I think you're correct. Well, I hope you're correct because that's what i've been assuming the arrows mean when i've been playing.
