It does happen, it maybe depends on which server you are on. I have a team level 31 and I can buy easily, but there are not many top players available, but I find it virtually impossible to sell. I have another team level 23 and the market there is as you describe, I have plenty of money and not a huge amount of tokens, but the bidding wars are fierce and I will not get involved. Possibly the server re-allignment (as has been mentioned on here) has not gone in your favour.
