Your experience with the game indeed doesn't match mine, in any of my (six.. yeah six.) teams. (no disrespect and I didn't feel you were being rude either!)

My experience has been that the second half has been harder pretty much every season except the early levels. When I lose to someone in the first match, I try a lot harder in the second match and expect other managers to do the same.
