Palace teams report for Sunday 2nd August, 2015...
Casuals were at home for today's two matches, a second 0-0 draw in succession in the League, and a curiously satisfying 2-1 win in the Cup - the opponents played an attack-heavy formation and the Management had to resort to an old defensive chestnut to counter it:
Goals just after half-time by Topalan and Cashman (9 games, and he is just settling down and producing results) gave Casuals the lead, but the visitors pulled one back to make the 2nd leg even more intriguing...
Casuals now have a new plaque on the wall of the Director's Room:
In late transfer news, having signed a new 5*/137 'keeper for 1T/$98.3M (nobody else wanted him, so why not?), reserve 'keeper Tran Cong Vinh was listed, and attracted a bit of attention, eventually going for $109M, but some people still don't get the Auction system...
...and was this guy bidding against himself with two different clubs?
Terriers were away for their two games, getting a 1-0 win in the Cup at a Polish Level 4 club, Soto scoring the only goal 14 minutes from time; and then went to Egypt for a League game, and got a creditable 2-2 draw, Soto adding his second goal in two games, and defender Clare netting the second, both goals coming in the early part of the second-half. Soto will miss the next league game after getting another yellow card, this time conceding a penalty which, to his relief, was ballooned over the bar.
Desert Rats FC are having to concentrate on the League now, and had a 3-2 win away. Midfielder Attenborough (2) and striker Haddou scoring the Rats goals in the first 36 minutes, but the home side pulled one back within a minute of the third and then gradually came back into the game. Despite conceding a second goal in the second-half, the defence held on for the win. Desert Rats are now 4th in their table after Round 6.
