Even if you let the contract run out, you still have to offer the player the signing on fee. There is no way out of not paying it. I have to pay millions at my level.

My one question is, do his previous skill points carry over after his contract runs out and you offer him a brand new one at the start of next season?
Of course, that is what I wanted to know. So I just let all the contracts run out and the next day, I sign them and dont have to pay the signing bonus. That could easily save me $1M. I am level 3 manager now but I know I will be level 4 and 5 when the other players contracts run out, so it will save $Millions and always give me a full 3 years.

On the skill points, I have no clue, and wont since I always use the skill points immediately.

Thinking re this - is it worth renewing guys who will go on to their last year of contract next season, now? Will they ask for more or less next season - thinking that as they go down a star next season.

they go down a star and a % of worth too, so it is better for you financially to wait until the start of the next season, when their sign fee with be 10% of the new lower worth.
