Can you intentionally reduce player quality?

I accidentally trained a young player to 5 stars obviously there is now a smaller buyer market for him...

Makes me wonder if there is any way to reduce player quality, like through overtraining or something?

My hunch is no but I'm just trying my luck out there

    5 or 6 or 7* stars-quality doesn't matter.
it's the number (how much close he is from the next star).
    A 5* player with 38 q is more attractive than a 6* player 40 q and less attractive than a 4* player with 34 q.

Thanks for the tips nic! I have a couple of 4 star players at 79% but I still need them so they are not auctioned yet. So I figured that to stop them from becoming unattractive 80% 5 star players I could just train them into a new position, but I am wondering if that would show on the player info when I put them on the market? Obviously no one would want to buy a player who is at say 5/50 of training for a new position

no, this progress isn't visible and it's lost after the transfer.
