First player I've ever power-trained was an ML-AML and I got him to 7 stars. He sucked. He also didn't train that fast.
Then I found one on the market with 91%Q, Shadow Striker and 43 goals in 31 games. Got him for 4-5 tokens and he's shining!
I started power-training the new guy a little bit to keep him for an extra season or two, stopped at 103%, and he's at 109% now.

I think its better to find a talented player and only then power-train him. If I had used the green packs on the new guy rather than on the old one he would've been 7 stars and would've stayed with me for a longer time.

Not to mention my legendary AMR (best player I've had with an average of a goal per match for 150 games) was 4* till this morning when he hit 5*.
Quality doesn't really matter too much when there's talent in the player. I plan on keeping this AMR for atleast two more seasons. I think I might actually never sell him, I want him to retire at the club
