re: player contracts

Hi All,

I have been reading your posts for a couple months now, and now that I have an issue, it's my turn to start a thread. I am in season 11 and I have a very good cam/ram fast trainer who is the captain of my squad. I was so impressed with him that I decided to renew his contract when it expired at the start of last season. The issue I am having is that when I renewed it, the contract said it has two years remaining. Normally contracts are for 3 years. I immediately contacted support and this is the response I got:

The reason you are seeing that two years are left from the player's contract is because the game automatically takes into account the current season. Thus, the visual representation of the length of the contract is 2 years - meaning that you have two more upcoming seasons in which the player in question will for sure remain loyal. The current season doesn't count when you are viewing the player's profile.

For the new players this does not apply since they had not played in your team previously.

Hopefully this explains it.


Now this season when I look on my player, it says his contract is expiring this season. Am I missing something here ? Because it seems that when you renew a players contract you only get 2 seasons max and when you buy a player you get 3 seasons.

do it in the begining of new season. you given 7 days to renew bt for your case i'm not sure.

I've noticed this too. It's been going on for a good while now. I have too much money so I don't care, but I have to renew players every 2 seasons.

1year left means this season + 7 days of the next season to renew.

If you see the "1 year of contract" (this) and you renew +2 are added, so 1+2 , 3 years. If the season started and the contract has expired, and you do the contract during the 7 initial days as is a expired contract is 0 + 2 years.

Do you not realize the blatant mathematical error in the contract system for this game?

Using an abstract example for this season:

(i) I buy Player 1 at the start of this season. I can use him for this season, next season, and the season after. At the end of the 3rd season, his contract is expired, and at the start of the 4th season I get 7 days to renew his contract.

(ii) At the start of this season, player 2's contract is expired, and I have 7 days to renew it. I decide to renew player 2's contract on the same day that I purchase player 1. The difference is, I can use player 2 for this season, and next season ONLY. At the end of next season his contract is expired, and at the start of the third season, I get 7 days to renew his contract.

Where is the consistency? Where is the logic?

I just want to make it clear khris that I am not attacking you, I am merely trying to find someone who can provide a logical explanation for this, because I highly doubt there is.

I would have given you the benefit of the doubt if it was an extension. But the contract was not extended as it expired. The contract was renewed. Apart from that, if you read what support said below

I was given the impression that I would have him for 2 more seasons after the season of renewal (or am I reading wrong?)

one thing that confuse people is that when we buy (or sign) a new player, the contract is 1+2 years but the renewal is 1+1 years

So it's more a case of Nordeus using ingenious ways of taking tokens from people. It currently doesn't cost you any tokens to renew a contract, but you have to invest at least one token to buy a new player. The trade-off that we as players have to make is that we lose one year off a players contract for renewing it. It all makes sense now....

Extension is always 2 or 1 years.
I renew my player when they are 2 yrs left and I only get 1 year extension.
But I have to, hoping they perform since their wage reflect their current ldevel.

Hey Everyone. :)

I've broken down the Contract Signing system in to the following (What Khris and Niko said is correct):

- Only the initial contract signing is 3 Years - a.k.a, When the player comes to your Club for the very first time.
- Renewing a contracts ads a maximum of 2 Years (Three conditions follow from this):
1) The contract already expired (7 days to sign) - Renewal results in an addition of 2 Years to current contract = 2 Years Left
2) The contract expires this season (1 year left) - Renewal results in an addition of 1 Year to current contract = 2 Years Left
3) The contract expires next season (2 years left) - Renewal results in an addition of 1 Year to current contract = 3 Years Left

Additionally to point 3) - If the contract was renewed in the current season (2 years left), the Manager can renew the contract again for an additional year, resulting in a 3 year contract.

So basically this lets you:
- Utilize the player till the end of the season
- Sign the player for a couple more seasons, if you like his performance
- Add one additional season to the player's contract after you renew it, for a total of 3 whole seasons.

Hm, maybe a slider that let's you chose the exact number of years you want to sign your player for, would have been simpler.

This has to do from how inform is a manager, how deeper he 's gong in the game, how much reading he did (or exchanging info/opinions with other managers), the perception, the experience he gets through time.
For example I can tell you that your player (who is 26 y.o.) is a slow trainer so (unless you 'll spend a fortune of greens) next season he 'll be a 3* player so he won't be anymore effective vs 5*-6* defenders and GK.
So it's wrong to renew (and before expiring) the contract of an "old" player.

hey guys relax, this is just a game based in football management.
I know that many people having the knowledge/experience from real football, try to think with the same way.
Wrong, here there are specific functions.
No player will be happy and perform better if you renew his contract before time and no player gonna have psychological problems and wont perform in the first 6 days of the season, waiting to renew or not his contract :rolleyes:

Nik..I find it astonishing that someone like you can be calling my player a slow trainer. He is in his 5th season with me and he is at 76℅. I originally bought him in the low 90s and I am not the type that uses up greens on individual players. He trains with the team 4 times a day as recommended by the game, and rest packs are applied to players who need them when matches are close. Based on the fact that this game reduces your players by 20℅ every season, a regular trainer would have been a 2 star player or less by now if I kept him so long. So if he is not a fast trainer, I will probably never see one.

As it relates to my comment about Nordeus. I arrived at that conclusion because it defies logic. One would think that that if a contract is for 3 years, and you are given the option to renew, you would have gotten another three years. But from a business perspective the developers decided that there needs to be a trade-off if you decide to renew a contract instead of investing tokens on a new player off the market. This is my way of justifying why you get one year less on the contract for renewing.

for me fast trainer is the 5* (late 5*, not like those new youngsters of 80%) player who can hit 1 sp at 3 bars match training , or + 4 skills in a set of drills with -18 condition loss (avg, after 4-5 training tests ).
So, this player at the end of the season can be near 7* without spending a bunch of greens to boost him.
* So, you can keep a high q player for 4 seasons

Was he fast trainer at his youth ? Probably, but not now.

The renew screen always says "Duration: 3 seasons" though, which makes you wonder if you're getting screwed, doing something wrong or if it's a bug.

Thank you for pointing this out. Now to all the people who were defending Nordeus over what I mentioned. Please explain this to me. Based on my picture, if I click on renew, his contract should be valid for this season next season and the season after (1+1+1 =3). But according to how Nordeus calculates contracts. It expires next season. I can only assume their formula goes something like this (season 1 + season 2 = 3)..smh. I obviously went to the wrong school.

Alright, so I went directly to the devs about this to make sure that everything is confirmed, as I got suspicious of my own self in that I felt like something was missing.

Player Contract signing.

Note: 1 Year = 1 Season. Contract time frame includes current season. (i.e.: When the interface shows -> 3 Years left = Current season + Next season + Next season)

These are the 3 situations that can occur:
1) Initial contract signing = 3 Years (When the player comes to your Club for the very first time.)
2) Extending a contract = 3 Years (When 1 Year or 2 Years are still left.)
3) Renewing an expired contract (first 7 days of season) = 2 Years contract.

About point 3) - The player's contract will be updated for a maximum of 2 Years only if the contract has already expired and the player is waiting for your decision (First 7 days of the season). You can, ofc. add another year after that if you tap/click the Renew button - For a maximum of 3 Years.

Thanks for your attempt to clarify the issue Jeeves. But I am a bit confused about the last part. Are you saying if we renew the contract twice (initial renewal and press renew again) we get the additional year? Or are you saying that there is an option to select 3 years when renewing? Because because I am pretty sure the standard duration is 3 years and that cannot be modified.

The max you can have is 3 years in any case.
if you buy a new player (so you have 1 +2 more seasons), you can't renew for this season.
Only the next one, to make it again 1+2.

* but really there is no reason for that.

Then a thing that an be interesting discuss is... what is more effective in cash terms? once a player contract is finished add the +2 and too the 3rd year? ... so you do the ontract now for 3 years and you can keep the salary thse 3 years paying for the extension?¿ I never used the calculator to se what contract formula is more less expensive or if all give the same result..

No there's no different option, only 1 contact length can be signed. In the case of Jeeves point 3, the expired contract is signed in season 1, so the contract will expire in (current season) +2 years. Just as when it says "contract will expire next season" it means (current season) +1 year.

Renewing during the last season (Will expire at end of season) or the grace period after expiration (Player is unsigned, not currently playable, X days to resign) will have the same result. Difference being the bonus and wage amounts.

You can keep a contract length as 3 if, for some reason, you choose to renew every season.

No, no, there isn't an option to select between 2 and 3 years of contract.
You are correct - Standard contract is 3 years.
-The game signs the player for 3 Years when you select Sign.
-The game also signs the player for 3 Years (adds the missing years) when you extend a contract that hasn't expired yet.

But when the contract has expired, the player will be signed for 2 Years (Instead of 3). So that's the current season + the next one.

What I mean with the Quote "About point 3)" is that if you already signed the player after his contract expired, you can select the "Renew" button once more and simply pay for the 3rd Year of contract.


EDIT 1: Oh boy, sorry I should have refresh the page again. Seems others also replied in the mean time. o.O

EDIT 2: Btw, to give my own two cents - I never really payed too much attention as to the duration of contracts and how exactly the signing worked (the 2 years instead of 3 years thing... yeah). I learned it once, years ago, and knew that this feature was never changed and thought that I knew it correctly. Well jokes on me I guess. :(

Ok guys. I really appreciate your input. Everybody is saying the same thing. When you renew an expired contract you only get 2 seasons (this and next) and I have no issues with this. My issue is... (Based on the screenshot in my earlier posting) Why is it that it says the duration is 3 years when you click on renew? Isn't that highly misleading and something that needs to be corrected? Because as we all agree you only get 2 seasons when you renew....

Well, I personally am getting your point but also think that it's ok to be like this, @craigyc13.

I can understand that the~

Extend Contract

Duration: 3 years (While adding only 2 extra years)

~can look misleading but that is if you would expect the panel to tell you how many Years will be added. In which case I think there should be a completely different message, really. Something like: "Years added: 2 Years" or something among those lines. :9

The thing is that the panel, as it is right now, tells you the whole duration of the contract. (After you sign it)

I don't know, I've never been confused by the panel as it is, but I know that the support agents have had some tickets from players that have asked questions similar to yours. Then again, I've never personally cared too much about the duration of the contracts that much.

As I said, it's a personal thing. But I can get how it can look misleading due to the "Extend Contract" line.

P.S. I'll bring it to the table when we have a talk with the devs. We've done some interface lift-ups already in 2016, again due to such feedback. :)
