A WTF match which needs an explanation to rest in peace

So today I had the second leg of champions league.
Oppo with similar quality.

1st leg I won 2-1, I could score more but despite 25 total shots only 5 were on target and 2 in the goal

2nd leg, I set up 4141 defensive tactics, trying have a close game as I had the advantage of winning first game.
Half time was 6-0 against me.
Oppo at half time had 7 or 8 shots on target and 6 of them was a goal.
Tried to switch the route of the game, but it was uncontrollable.
Felt like I was playing against a +5 level opponent or all my players were out of position.
Final score 8-2 with ratings that I do not get even when I tank and i misplace on purpose the players.

What could have gone wrong?
My team was with full condition/morale/bonus.

Can anyone notice this single or multiple factors that could result in such chaotic game engine behavior?
For sure it seems that there is a combo of factors that is calculated completely wrong by the game resulting to ****ed up situations.

Such kind of scores are seen mostly in associations. But thing are getting worse and spreading,

PS.
With my second team I had the same exactly behavior from the opposite side.
I won a good opponent 8-1 (!!) , my players seemed invincible.
At first leg same exactly teams and setup and I struggled into a narrow 1-0 win.
So for moan haters, I do not moan, I try to figure out the game engine.

This season I 'm staying level so in some games I 'm using 1-2* players I have for GK.
(playing out of position of course).
The lower rate I had for those goalies, was 4.8
I don't understand how your GK , a normal one (lol) almost 7*, got a 4 :eek:

The big question is if your opponent watched his game and managed it ?

Same here. Equal opponent, missing manager. First game won 2:0, second lost 4:0 (biggest lost ever).

That 73% shot efficiency triggers me so so badly...

We're not shooting free throws in basketball, this is supposed to be a football manager simulation game for Christ's sake.


I would destroy my cell phone instantly if that happened to me, I feel so sorry for you bro...

we all had facing this situation sometime......i get so pissed when that happens.......and if you try to change things, you cant.....game simply is for the other side even if you putt 11 player at front or at back...i already did it and the team doesnt respond, oponent is too danm strong........the game is broke at some point i believe so........and the funny part is that on the other side no one is at the helm......is an auto team from devil itself

it happened to me also, but that time I trained my players until condition decreased to 0% and than used green packs to recover it to 99%. :)) .

Anyhow ..this season I had only one ****ty match.

Nothing I can see based off the screenshots, that could cause that. Result looks very strange and I would have thought those tactics would have produced a positive result. Sorry, that happened to you.

Only think I can think of would be if the opponent is a crazy power-trainer, like a former loan exploiter, that has had his team reduced back towards 120%, following several seasons sitting at 9* average.

That is a good point, but it does not apply here.
I have barely trained my players in the morning of that day, just to get the 10% bonus.

Hm elaborate a bit, so if his players were previous 9* players, you mean that they have better performance maybe because of their individual highlighted skills are pretty high?
It is a good point but:
a. checking he is for too long in a non-loan trick association
b. in first match I did not experience the similar pattern

Surprisingly (for this season) he watched the match!
He had hald of stadium full and he was the only one in.
I was watching with a bunch of supporters, having a +11% advantage for me in total

What Nik said is a very good point.
At the seasons I tank, I misplace my players and play an "illegal-bull**** formation.
I do not get such low rating for my players.
And most times my players due to tanking may play exhausted due to powertraining.

This is the magic of "because f*** you!" in Top Eleven. Not even the support team does have an answer, and justify this by saying that "the opponent prepared the match better even when he doesn't watch the game".
Except for one thing that does prove the opposite. Try to face the same team twice in a row using the same formation and tactics, while the opponent abandoned the team (he's fielding injured players), and you will get much, MUCH different results. Like losing at home 2-1 and winning away 0-6.

Nobody knows **** :)

It really sucks to loose your away game that bad. The shot efficiency is something that is very of this season. So far I have lost only a few games with normal numbers. So in a game with 54% possession, both teams 12 shots and 5 on target and I loose 0-1 is ok for me.

But.... this season I have lost and tied games where I dominated like mad. Had a game with 31 shots with 9 on target against a team with 9 shots and 2 on target. Logical end score is 1-1. Shot efficiency is somehow broken for teams with less quality. I don't understand how I am still doing fine in all 3 sections with these results.

I can only remember one exemple like this happening to me: in cup semi, I think, oppo slightly weaker, I won first leg 3-0 and could have been 5-0 if I well remember. I was overconfident and did not watch second leg. Got destroyed 7-2. But your case is worse as you were watching and his tactic was just silly. After many seasons, I also noticed that the game engine has a tendency to favor the "best" team in cup. If you lost first leg badly against all odds, the chances are you will come back on second. Did it several times. But in your case, that does not seem to apply.

I have always had same problems in cup and especially UCL matches... Its tiring

Ok, i know that the game engine is trolling every match lately, but NORDEUS, get real ffs, i'm losing the title in here!!! THIS IS TOO MUCH!!! i'm out in cup, i'm out in ch league, i had 4 pts lead in league, now i'm 3 pts behind... and all those loses were with weaker teams. example, today match:

i had tons of scoring oportunities, 3 or 4 of them 1on1 with keeper, all of them were over the post. unbelievable...and he only had 3 chances...
this **** is ****ing unreal, they better do something about this kind of results, it makes no sense. why should i invest anymore in my team if i keep losing like that???

Just had a cup match which I didn't watch. Neither did he.Stats of the away game:

Possession 43 vs 57%
Shots 13 vs 17
On target 7 vs 8
Saves 5 vs 4

So a tie would be a logical end score right? Maybe even the coin flip to me as I was a little stronger? WRONG! 3-0 for him.

This game has stopped making sense ages ago..Final nail in the coffin would be 14day season for me... waiting for it

Funny to see my first post on this thread as I lost my first leg of cup semi against an half-abandoned lev+1 team (first loss of the season). I think I played the good counter with my best 11, dominated all game but still lost 1-2 (2 goals for him in the first 14 mins + an injury for me: was just waiting for the red card which fortunately never came). According to my previous writing, I should win on secong leg. Let's see...

I think, you are heavily overestimating the impact of whatever you do on the game. For instance, I have yet to see a game where upon my changing from hard defending to hard attacking (or anything in between) would have any visible effect on the movements of the players. I'm pretty sure that all those settings that we are allowed to specify, are no more than cosmetics for our entertainment.

Equally, everybody who played for a while knows that once in a while there will be a game where the players will just not perform at all. One would think that this is exactly what had to be reflected in their morale, by the very definition of the morale, but it's not the case.

Equally, if you look closely, there's no much relation even between the condition and the result. Again, I'm pretty sure that once in a while everybody has a case where you just did not have time to get to the team between two games on the same day, so the players all had 60-70% condition, but still beat an equal team.

Or, when the player who "broke the leg" and was "stretched from the field", if not replaced, keeps playing just fine, and even occasionally scores. In fact, if anything, you may even notice some boost for your team.

We sure like to tell ourselves that our movements and preparations and training and morale and formations and watching the game and bonus do matter, but I'm pretty sure that if someone ran statistics on big numbers of games, it would be revealed that in the end, they don't. Or maybe some negligible effect.

That's exactly what I think. Try to change "focus passing" from "down both flanks" to "through the middle" and you won't see any change. The player would still go down both flanks trying to cross the ball tenths times a match without getting a single header. Statistically in a football match you would see a lot more headers in attack than in a Top Eleven game. Occasionally, out of 10 games, I can get a cross right and score after that.
This season I tried to train more crossing and heading, without any perceivable difference.

Full condition doesn't make any change, morale neither, quality...LOL, doesn't change ****. Counter formation? Try to mess up your formation, you would actually see the players in the position you put them, but after a second they would still go wherever they are expected to go covering all the field.

All this makes me think what you said, they are just cosmetics and the real result is calculated over something else we won't really ever know. Probably is a mix of ball possession, positioning and I don't know what.
If you watch every troll result you would notice that the shot efficiency is almost perfect on the winning team.

Thats absolutely true... and the GK is always MOM... but ok, if any of those mentioned doesn't matter any more, why should we bother to make a good team (120% and +)? we play with a 85-90% quality and beat any team. because that's what i get so far with all those surprise results...

Everyone has noticed that indeed, from time to time, you win games that you should not. And the other way round too. But do not make confusion between what "you see" in the live animation and what happens in the heart of the game engine. I agree that animations are mostly cosmetic but I completely disagree about the fact that tactical changes have no effect. Switching 4-5-1V from flanks to middle DO have an effect even if it's not shown by animations. But there are things that animations will show you. For instance, play with normal or offensive settings: every time you'll see your players starting their attacking moves from THEIR side, you are 100% certain that they'll eventually lose the ball and that you are in danger. If you go for defensive, you'll see dangerous (sometimes successful) attacking moves starting from your side.

Live animation may be just cosmetics, but if I change tactics the result still doesn't change and then live animation is just useless compared to other game. If it's there I'd like to be useful to actually see how my team is performing and should be faithful (well mostly at least) to what is actually happening.
What you say about normal or offensive mentality usually happen anyway from what I experienced, and if defensive gives more chances of starting effective attacking moves, then why does attacking mentality even exist? If I need a comeback and use attacking, I lose the ball more. I should have gone defensive. Wow, fat chance! I also conceded goals on counter attack while playing defensive which is nonsense. I needed to score a few goals today with my 4-5-1V and changed tactics to no effect (see my last opened thread).
Either live animation has to be more faithful, or the game engine should be more transparent and give more feedback if you are doing good, because if he generates crap on random without refleting your decision then we are just pretty much playing blind. The AM is also pretty much useless on giving hints..
I've seen too much crap to accept anything coming from this game (nothing personal on you ;) )

Again, I'm not saying that defensive play gives more chances: just that animations will show something different. That's it. The truth for me is: whatever the animation shows, the important thing remains the settings. But at least, that one thing gives me a piece of information about my oppo.

Yes animations is a bit of **** right now.

But it is true that you can retrieve some info from it.

For example you can easily see if your oppo plays defensive mentality, as his defense and all players will be way too deep close to penalty area.

Also you can see how you lose chances, so when you miss opportunities that for other games are a sure goal, you can close the app as you are going to get trolled :p

I like the fact that now what before was a sure goal, now it becomes a missed opportunity. Before when you saw a fast counter-attack it was a 100% goal, now the player can even miss to an empty goal. Which is nice, because it was boring to see actions and already knowing how they would have ended.
Aside from that, the simulation is total BS compared to other games that I tried these days. Since the game engine wasn't very clear to start with, with many flaws and unclear points, maybe it wasn't good to implement a "live" simulation if it's so misleading. We make tactical choice without a real validation, the commentary is also so-so. The only way to unterstand if your choices are working is to see if you are scoring without conceding (aka: winning = ok), and also if everything seems to be on your side, it's not and you lose badly without knowing why. We should be able to see if our player are having trouble getting through the defense, if we should keep pushing on the side or through the center and finding spaces, if our defense is not holding or not.
The AM is total bullcrap, he suggests to stop tackling hard even if you are winning 7-0 without conceding a free kick. Set "hard attacking" and 3 ST and he says to be more offensive. Stats are usually off and has been covered in several threads.
Really, I think we miss that visual (or textual) validation on how our teams are holding. Instead with time and experience, I see that playing counterattack is useless, you will still score no matter how, maybe even on counterattack. I will stop playing counter formations since they just don't work right and mean nothing (or close to). In association is just a random mess of random results between strong a weak teams.
There are so many unclear points in this game, that for me now after years is pretty much useless to talk about, because everyone has a personal idea and you would get your own with different results. You never get an official explanation. Do SA really work? Would a player be the same without a SA? Do SA depend on skills? Maybe they do, maybe they don't. I have CK and FK specialists trained just for that and they just suck. The only ones that seem to work are the defensive ones, but I will never be sure if the players would be as good without.

Yeah, I sound bored, I gave this game so many chances and it's missing many of them, especially lately. :cool:
It's not a matter of "I wanna always win", but "I want to know what works and what not".

I does not give you enough feedback for the game in order to get better and dont make the same mistakes again.

But is this a flaw/poor feature implementation? Or is it on purpose, because less info you have on your side the easier you can get trolled unable to do anything.

For sure Nordeus does not want a player that can win forever.. because if he learns how to do so there is no reason to invest real money on the game.

Well pointed Clover,I strongly agree with you,they don't even tell us when the league is drawn,what if we can see that for the last seasons the league is done 1st day of the season.

Yesterday in Cup match at the minute 28 sent off my MC. Fortunatly in the first leg I won 3-0.
Today in CL match at the same minute 28 sent off my MC.
My tackling is normal, and in league I haven't any red cards.

Nordeus are trolling us; it is totally useless prepare match with training and counter formation when you see this ridicolous things.

Two red cards in the two cups, at the same minute.

They want that we spent money to see this absurdities????

I understand so many people leave the game after some seasons (I'm at level 7).

They have modified the auction but there are many other important things to improve, not the auction.

I tried other games and some tell you when your condition is too low to play a game, risking a defeat and suggesting you to take a rest. In TE we only know that a low condition equals an higher risk of injuries and that's all, we don't know what's the minimum required (if anything) to actually put up a fight. I won with extremely low condition and lost at full 99%. Morale is the same, the win bonus we don't know if it gives an actual morale bonus or nothing. Can we get an extra "+" icon in the players morale so we would know? As it is, it's just a gauge to press and you lose money.
In Top FM some players have an already built SA to unlock and train, instead of TE when you choose the one you want without knowing if it will work. Can we finally have an official word saying that only ONE SA works on a certain player and that it's up to you to discover it? Can we know if it has to do with his skills? Other games have a full time simulation where you see what your team is actually doing, if players are missing passes, or if they can't go through defense and react accordingly. In TE you have a set of animations that mean all and nothing. % of successfull passing can mean anything, even if you win or lose with an higher percentage. After months of complaints I still don't know why associations perform better away than home, including a far better possession despite playing with all the possible bonuses and strategy. In other games, playing "possession" is an actual strategy option among many, while also giving you the ability to choose to play with a narrow or a more wide team covering more field. You can choose to attack from the center or try crossing more. You get the choice, you actually see it working. In TE we get half-assed options like focus passing, like where? Do we get the choice as from where trying to shoot? I see some players attempting to score when they have 2 players in front, but that as some people say, it's not a "real" simulation. So what? What is happening? Are my players shooting from afar trying to surprise a low quality GK? Are they crossing if there are no aerial defenders?

All of this was fun years ago, when I tried to figure it out, but the game progressed, changed to a shiny new UI, added more tournaments and features, but still we are stuck with the same humble engine that decides stuff on its own. Quality and strategy should be the ultimate elements to decide a game, then morale and condition, then possibly any other bonus that might get you that last push over the opponent. But apparently no matter how perfect you prepare, you get your ass kicked. And when you try to analize your defeat, stats are on your favour, ratings are good, you countered your opponent well. Sorry if I repeat myself, but I grew really tired of this, mainly by looking at what other games have to offer while TE is starting to lag behind, lacking basic features. Nordeus might push for ingame purchases which I will always defend, they need money to live, but it won't come if the game quality is lowering with time.

Just hit the spot! Everything seems to be random in terms of condition or morale, and I think only FK/CK specialists and Wall/Areal actually works. Of course, no one would predict to be invicible in a game or you may be vulnerable in some points like in TE 2016, which I loved and these bull****s were more less happening, however being beaten by 40% weaker opponents in important matches such as finals is unbearable. I play PES CM for 2-3 months, it has so many bull****s in it too, no game is perfect of course. Sometimes, you feel you get trolled but only when you play against equal or slightly weaker teams. Also, I assume these happens on purpose as well as video issues in TE. I totaly agree with Tyltyl, Nordeus should earn from in-game purchases but not like that, come on no one would pay more if it does not change the things one can achieve in a game, there is no point to invest more unless you can change the outcome. Myself for instance, realized that buying 1500-2000 tokens to build a really strong squad won't change my progress so much compared to spending 1000 tokens per month in the game, if the system wants me to lose there is really nothing I can do. Some say that opponents would counter you, I do not believe this too because it happened me so many times I was beaten by a weaker oppo while I beat an equal opponent and this equal oppo beat that weaker oppo easily, all the formations we used were same in the three matches and I do not think tactics would be different so much. These have been written so many times too but no response shown by Nordeus in the game, it really tires and that's a fact that they won't change their manners to their customers as I said before. Funny thing is it seems trolls are really on the rise as some claimed that they did not come across with them before now complaining about those. I am curious of how Nordeus would ruin this game more :)

2 days ago i decided not to manage my team anymore....i set up a 4-4-2 classic and i didnt preped any game.......the only thing i did was the usual training conbination to put bonus at 10%.....also i gave up watching live games....i only connect after the game ended to see result...

you guys wanna know what kind o results i had??? heheheheheh gonna keep this experience 2 more days and ill leave here the conclusion :)

My 2 other teams I just train them for 10% bonus, sometimes I can't manage time so team play with 6 or 8% bonus, all nord provided 31 yo players, never boost or use any blue for their moral in this season and gess what :P

Started a few months back and this game is becoming so depressing I lost the league today because a 12th position nobody has registered his fourth win of the season against my team. What is the point of being favorite? I know there are many variables involved but losing to a ghost manager.

Yeah...all results really got out of control... nothing matters anymore: condition, trainings, morale, tactics...everything is one big mystery. i don't even know how to arrange my team in field since counter-formations doesn't work anymore... it's tiring and there's no fun anymore :(

Wow, you have really hit the spot in this thread on what is wrong with this game!

No point for me to write the same again, but I totally agree with you. Especially around the game engine it self, so many unknowns and guessing - but you never know what does anything. This is so important to improve, instead of putting a lot of new abilities into the game - the game core is what drives the game and the managers and really needs an overhaul.

Many good points in this thread, so hopefully Nordeus will read and do something about it.
I believe that a better game core, will keep managers active and attract more, in turn making a bigger earning for Nordeus - more than new fancy features, and a bad game core will do.
