What does that mean? (Assistant Match Report)

I had a tough match where I put 5 defenders, 8 men behind the ball (later changed to 9 men behind ball) and played defensive.
Final Result: 1-0
The opposing team gets a red card in the first half itself, and later I went attacking and even all out to try get goals but in vain. His goalkeeper got a 9.6 rating.

Wt*, how did I underestimated how good they were? If that was the case, I would have played openely without any care instead of putting 8 or 9 men behind the ball. What does that mean 'We totally underestimated how good they were'?

That was a game you supposed to loose (no effect from opponent's red card, 7 saves, motm the GK)
Maybe you had wrong formation .
For example to use a DMC instead of the third DC or an AMC instead of the third MC - to take advantage of no DMC.
Maybe he had full bonus or max win bonus or many players on fire.
and he has a good team too.

You had few shots and 0 shot efficiency but your ST got an 8.

You made rushed conclusions by considering the line-up at start of the match shown on the list in the image, and this list do not even give the exact positions I placed them nor the exact positions the opponent put his players. The opponent set up what looked like a 4-3-3(4) with DR and DL close to AMC-wide positions (not wide DR, DL) and not wide ML,MR too but he was attacking flanks hard.


I used 3-2W-3N-2, 5-4-1, 3N-2W-2-1-2, and 3-N-4-1-2. I changed to 5-4-1 after I saw he was hitting the flanks (two players on the sides close to the line, attacking). I changed and put AMC after his MC got sent off. I did what I could there, but what the assistant manager said about that underestimating thing makes no sense.

Those are preset expressions of the a.m., just to excuse a bad result.

Also I doubt if the positions of players in the box have any meaning.

Looks like you were doomed from the start and nothing you could have done would have changed anything. The fact his GK became Superman and a sending off usually indicates you have no chance as it is pre-determined. And ignore the AM, purely cosmetic and meaningless.
