I actually have found 18 yo frequently, although, at the beginning of the season, they're expensive as everyone bids on them. But this season I was lucky. Got myself not one, not two, but three 18 yo fast trainers at 41 % q, 62 % q and 78 % q respectively. And for a handful Tokens at that.
You can recruit four 18 yo players from the Youth Academy for each season rather than they used to be two, so it should be not.
But, the game has changed auction system. We are no longer able to see where our sold players go. I've not seen much 18 yo players in auction at the beginning of season. They might be related.
yes... for sure...
I farm the market for a long time today again and saw only 2 players worth buying, bought one of them and he turned out to be a slow trainer. It is absolutely disgraceful, I want to spend my token but I can't.
On my second team I am looking for decent players, any offensive position but nothing appears.

Markets like these should not even exist, not a single player worth buying and 9 out of 10 markets are like this. Let me spend token to see the markets I want to see, like in youth academy to be able to set a position to appear at least 3x in every market for the next 2 hours for 10 token or at least 2 18 year olds in every market for the next hour for 20 token.
It is different for every player. Normally I refuse to pay more than 5T for a player. Most I get for 2-3 Token, but a lot of dead players.
I may find 1 or 2 good ones per season. If I find the good one for the position I need a new player I stop searching. This season for example looking for DR and MC on my main account to train next season. These are the players I bought:
DR 66% for 1T - bad
MC 61% for 1T - bad
MC 54% for 5T - OK but not great, I still have him as he is my best so far
DR 70% for 3T - Also ok but not great, want to find better, also he is generally too high for me
MC 50% for 2T - bad
So 5 players bought and still not happy, I hope to find better talent for the rest of this season.
It's no big deal in terms of Token, I get 100 Token from association every season, so with the other free token the income is around 150 Token per season or more. And if I find a good player, I keep him for at least 7 or 8 seasons until I need to search for a new.
The hardest part is to see these players in the auctions. It's so time-consuming to look all day. Competition usually not very high, sometimes competition is good. When there are many people bidding on a 40% player I look at them if they are low level and have good players and platinum association. Then they know how to find good pieces with high market value and I will likely bid for a good player also. Then I might spend more than 5T also.
The last part sounds like a good strategy and confirms what I had in mind doing when I eventually climb up the food chain. Appreciate you taking your time answering my questions. People like you add great value to this forum.

Ok I've just watched 10 auctions back to back to see how many 18 year olds showed up.
10 auctions of 15 players equals 150 players...........2 of which were 18 years old. 1 at 70% and 1 at 52%.
Not only am I being offered 18 year olds at a far lower ratio than should be the average, but I'm also not being offered 5 star players.
They're rare indeed, but the law of averages says 1 should be in every auction.
Yesterday I managed to find a very good DR 63%. Like I said, second week feels a lot better. I have seen a lot more 18 year old players compared to the first week of the season.
@Altiplano - I think there are 14 players. So 140 players, but still 2 18yo is very few...
Without closely monitoring the transfer market I've come across 4 the last 2hs, but none of them were fast trainers according to the q/v ratio.
15 on my list!Attachment 133981Attachment 133982
14 would actually make the math even easier.
We are offered players from the ages of 18-31 inclusive. This is a 14 year span. 14 players at auction would statistically mean 1 player at each age between 18 and 31 on every auction.
But that doesn't happen.
Found a gem for the DR position as well. 18 yo, 45 %. Trained him SA with 6x 18 % drills so far, and he've gained 9 XP, so +1,5 points per session. Not the fastest of fast trainers, but promising so far. According to my calculations he should require 33 such drills and 40 rest packs for the 50 XPs needed.
I have seen so many 18 year old that too fast trainers that I could have build 2 whole new teams from them. But I didn't bought any except 1 whom I am planning to sell via negotiations for 3-4 T.
So you're buying them for cash + 1T I assume and sell them for 3-4T without giving them any training? Trying to understand the rationale.
And I agree with you, seems as if there are plenty of 18 yo, and a couple of FTs as well on the markets. But I think it's easier for us to identify them due to the lower levels we're operating in.

I did this a lot in the past but with negotiations being at the end of the season it doesnt work so well anymore, especially in my high level where there are only few people interested in buying such players...
Sometimes I buy at the start of the season and train to 80% to sell a good player with low grey to one of my friends 2 level higher though. :D
I last season I saw that many managers at my Level were using negotiations. There are two more reasons why I decided to do it.
1) I can use them as reserves.
2) After buying a 3 star fast trainer I test them in friendlies and if someone performs exceptionally well then I also have the option to train him and use his services myself.
On a side note, am I missing something or is the guide in this video wrong? From what I've read from several respected forum members, this is not how you recognize a fast trainer: https://youtu.be/canQrM783xM
I'm a little confused because iceman82aj complimented him for the guide as well. Three drills aren't enough from what I've understood because of randomness. You'd need at least a couple of more drills to eliminate the random factor.

They seem to conveniently become more available once the first week is over, where they would prefer players to pile resources into their slow trainer academy players.

I need him mate. Was looking for a long time. Went through at least 7 CM before him. I'm lv19 on that account anyway. [emoji12] Might be some distance between us.
Need a FT on my main L62 account to make use of SS special ability. Hoping to find a DL or DC.

Come on... if someone had an amazing 18-year old player, why would they put them on auction lol?
I'm guessing many players don't stay in the game long enough to then sell on any youth players, regardless of how good they.
The ones who do play for longer are possibly training up their 18 year olds to see if they can become even better.
If an amazing 18-year old was available on auction, the bidding war would end ridiculously high.
At that point, wouldn't it be better to plough your T-bucks into your own 18-year old player?
If that's a certainty, then why not just build up your own world class 18-year olds rather than buy them?
Again, even in a scenario where humans actually did buy/sell in the auction, no one in their right mind would put up an amazing 18-year old player for auction unless they gained real life money from it (which I doubt Nordeus would ever allow).
If, for a moment, we're trying to base this game on real life... then in real life, how many amazing 18-year olds can you think of? What about past ones who then went on to remain world class? There's barely a handful. So what makes you think this game should then be flooded with amazing 18-year olds?
Just use the youth academy - you get a few 17-year olds every season to train up. If you play the game long enough, you get plenty of free T-bucks... which you can use to train up these 17-year olds into decent 18-year olds.
I build my own players, but not from youth academy as I said these players are not very good in terms of their development, I'd rather buy some good talent off the auctions. But when only bots (Nordeus) put the players for sale, it is also not easy to find many good players there. Likewise it wouldn't be an improvement when players put their players up for sale as we would also only have slow trainers from YA on the market plus older players (some maybe with nice skills).
So there is no real solution to the problem, you need to put a lot of time into the game to find the good talents and that is unfortunately what Nordeus want you to do. I would be willing to pay some more token to reduce my time spent in the game watching the auctions but only if it is for a good deal and youth academy didn't provide me this.
