why should we try to "counter" other player formation and not just put our team players in a formation which we like to play ?
the whole point of countering a formation is to maximise your winning chance. If you let opponents counter your formation, you are putting yourself at a disadvantages.
IRL, lots of teams play with only 1 main formation and do not counter opponents formation, so in game it's entirely up to you.

For example, you are comfortable playing 3-5-2, your opponent is comfortable playing 4-5-1v.
By not switching to a formation with DLDR, you've been countered by your opponent and he didn't even have to do anything, just playing his usual formation and exposing your 2 flanks

I've been using 3N-4-1-2 to great effect so far.

July, he's missing DL, so i was thinking to exploit that flank somehow.

i have seen a friendly match that 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond beats 3w-5-2 v-style
    quality 25.1(narrow diamond) against 26.0(3w-5-2 v-style).

    finale score 4-0

    try 4-2-2-2 hexagon since he have only 3 defenders. DL-DC-DC-DR MC-MC AML-AMR ST-ST

i have played that formation last season and i had trouble with 4-2-2-2 hexagon

You should add 3N-3W-1-2-1 and 3N-3W-2-2 to the list. The first one is a modified version of Butterfly with a DMC but only with one MC.
