I use always the same formation, but one have to have a 2nd strategy, different, because sometimes the game starts again one, so, for example, now I use a 4-3-1-2, attacking mixed passing, depending of how I see the match I can move a MC as DMC and play in diamond to try to defend better, of change to 4-3-3 if the match is in my favour to try to score more.
Orders changed to very defensive and long passing to saved me many times, and changed the possession bar many times in my favour.
So I really don't belive in counters, just little movements, or inclusive with the same formation move the players keeping same formation, and change orders + manage situation with the subs' is my favourite method to play and I think that are more decisive factors.
minz90 , for 4-1-4-1 what orders to use ?
I dont play that often. I tried it against mourinho (he plays 4-3-2w-1). Attacking, Mixed, full pitch, Short, hard, zonal. I dont know if i tried without arrows or with Red arrows on ml and mr. But there was a very Nice Victory. I won 8:1 against him

I don't believe religiously in a Counter Formation list. A formation is only part of the equation.
I try to get the best out of my players. Sometimes that might require a change in formation so I suppose I do try to counter what my opponent is trying to do with something better.
At the moment I've returned to a 451v/4141 Combo Strategy - my t11 can seemlessly play both and most times one or the other is expected to do the job and each only requires 2 players moved forward/back. I like combos that can change without subs and have in the past also done a 3142/352v combo (and many others on alt teams).
ND, 413w2, 442 and 432w1 are wheeled out if I think it gives me more chance. 433 can be hard for me to put on the pitch but I'll try v 451v (but sit worrying that a 4141 will then emerge XD).
But like Khris I do like those minor changes of swapping around 2 similar role players from 1 side to the other or subs or tweak an order etc - when I think I need a change in fortunes I make a change to try to trigger something. I try to have a Plan B (eg combo)
Basically I just like to fiddle and feel that I made a difference (good or bad). (And sometimes I will do things 'just to see what happens' and pay the price.)
So its a bit of yes and no from me - my only hard and fast rule is be entertained and occasionally take a risk.

Ive been playing this game for 2years now. From my experience Counter Formations work but...its not something you can put in a list. Many seasons ago i found a perfect counter for 4-4-2 and another for teams with DMC. The next season it didn't work. They change a little every season. Its part of Nordeus tactic to keep the game interesting and not predictable. Every season i build a team to play in 2tactics to counter regular formations and work from there. Build a good team and watch the games to adapt your tactic if it's not working. Usually if you have more shots on target you're on the good way.
i think, you`re right. but we should not Forget that every Formation has many Options to Play. we dont know the orders from the Opponent. example: there was a season where many opponents used Hexagon and i used 4-5-1 v in all matches.
some of them were easy to beat with 6:0. by unsing the same arrows and orders i had Problems against some other opponents that used Hexagon.
