Champions League: After a 1-0 1st leg win away from home Buffs FC ease into the semis with a convincing 6-0 home victory.

The opposition strode out into 4-5-1V and the Buffs got ready for a charge in 4-3N-3.

Three 1st half goals set the tone and another 2 were added within 20 mins of the restart. Buffs Mad made 3 subs either side of a 6th goal on 67 minutes.

Goals: Law (1, 35, 67), McNeill (23), (Bremner (51), McCoist (62).

If the other match goes as expected the Buffs can look forward to a sterner test if they face the Canadian side with 5x 8* and 8x 7* players (the rest a mix of 5&6*).

League: This is getting ridiculous. Buffs FC win their 4th consecutive league match with a 1-0 win against second. The Buffs now equal them on points but have a poorer GD - and are still 5pts behind the leader.

The home side usually play in a 3N-2W(DM)-3-2 so Buffs Mad opted for a 4-4-2 Defensive Counterattack.

Both managers were present and 6th came along to support us too. The Buffs shaded possession but were under pressure from more shots and corners, although only 2 were on target. But lets start from the beginning

Striker Law took one for the team in 17 minutes to get the Buffs mandatory yellow card out of the way. McGregor saved the FK and collected the corner. The visitors continued to attack but Buffs' defence was solid and Johnstone broke fast in 43 mins, hit the line and swung in the cross for in-rushing Archie Gemmill to head home.

In the second half the visitors continued to huff n puff but the Buffs stood firm and continued to threaten on the break. Buffs Mad freshened up the side with Henderson on for Johnsone and Dalglish on for Law. It was a nervous end to the second half as Buffs Mad waited for the expected FK in the last few mins. It came on the 89 min but lucky Buffs were saved by the bar.

Buffs Mad thought "Lucky Buffs, that makes a change. I like that, long may it continue."

Goals: Gemmill (43)

League: Buffs FC keep up the fight to try to pressurise the leader but its not easy. A 2-1 home win keeps the Buffs in joint second, 5 pts off the leader.

Stress? well Buffs Mad has just announced a new deal with 'Just for Men'.

The opposition emerged in a 4-1-3N-2 and the Buffs went 4-3N-2W-1. The Buffs were behind in 19mins when McGregor flapped at a hopeful shot from distance. Buffs wingers were not seein much of the ball so DL McMcLeish took the initiative with a break out of defence, switched the ball to DR Gough and then got on the end of Gough's cross to poke it home. Souness left it late to pick up the Buffs' mandatory yellow card on 44 mins. Bobby Murdoch replaced the hot-head at HT. On 48 mins Denis Law curled a FK in off the back peg for a 2-1 lead.

The Buffs were in control: the visitors still threatened but it was infrequent. Law had 2 more FKs in rapid succession to make it safe but missed the target with the first and GK saved the other. Buffs Mad brought Law off and sent on Ally McCoist - just before the opposition changed to 4-3N-3. It was the 77th minute when the Buffs reformed to 4-1-4-1 and controlled the clock for a 2-1 win.

Goals: McNeill (26), Law (48).

After the 2 loss, 2 draw, 1 win start to the season and a stuttering climb up the table with 5 more draws the Buffs are now ramping up the pressure. Is it too late? Probably but not much else to be done other than fight.
