    Thank you.

We did manage to win it and the next one too. Our goal difference this season has been shocking so we're still stuck behind Chelsea on gd in 3rd. Although 5pts behind the leader is a lot as the games tick by they still have to come to play us, Chelsea and Fenerbahce.

So we might not be confident of 1st but we are still hopeful.

Only problem is all these bookings are catching up on us in the league - with 2 suspensions recently, 1 currently out for tomorrow and 6 players a yellow away from a day off.

    Player News

Not many get long carreers at Buffs FC so we are pleased to recognise Alex McLeish who has now played his 150th game for the club. He even marked the occasion with the opening goal in todays league match and another 8 rated performance.

Buffs Mad said "For the last 2 seasons we have set a target to replace Alex and give him an easier life on the bench. But he has seen off all new-comers and proven time again his desire to don the Buffs colours."

Champions League: After a 1-0 1st leg win away from home Buffs FC ease into the semis with a convincing 6-0 home victory.

The opposition strode out into 4-5-1V and the Buffs got ready for a charge in 4-3N-3.

Three 1st half goals set the tone and another 2 were added within 20 mins of the restart. Buffs Mad made 3 subs either side of a 6th goal on 67 minutes.

    Goals: Law (1, 35, 67), McNeill (23), (Bremner (51), McCoist (62).

If the other match goes as expected the Buffs can look forward to a sterner test if they face the Canadian side with 5x 8* and 8x 7* players (the rest a mix of 5&6*).

League: This is getting ridiculous. Buffs FC win their 4th consecutive league match with a 1-0 win against second. The Buffs now equal them on points but have a poorer GD - and are still 5pts behind the leader.

The home side usually play in a 3N-2W(DM)-3-2 so Buffs Mad opted for a 4-4-2 Defensive Counterattack.

Both managers were present and 6th came along to support us too. The Buffs shaded possession but were under pressure from more shots and corners, although only 2 were on target. But lets start from the beginning

Striker Law took one for the team in 17 minutes to get the Buffs mandatory yellow card out of the way. McGregor saved the FK and collected the corner. The visitors continued to attack but Buffs' defence was solid and Johnstone broke fast in 43 mins, hit the line and swung in the cross for in-rushing Archie Gemmill to head home.

In the second half the visitors continued to huff n puff but the Buffs stood firm and continued to threaten on the break. Buffs Mad freshened up the side with Henderson on for Johnsone and Dalglish on for Law. It was a nervous end to the second half as Buffs Mad waited for the expected FK in the last few mins. It came on the 89 min but lucky Buffs were saved by the bar.

Buffs Mad thought "Lucky Buffs, that makes a change. I like that, long may it continue."

    Goals: Gemmill (43)

League: Buffs FC keep up the fight to try to pressurise the leader but its not easy. A 2-1 home win keeps the Buffs in joint second, 5 pts off the leader.

Stress? well Buffs Mad has just announced a new deal with 'Just for Men'.

The opposition emerged in a 4-1-3N-2 and the Buffs went 4-3N-2W-1. The Buffs were behind in 19mins when McGregor flapped at a hopeful shot from distance. Buffs wingers were not seein much of the ball so DL McMcLeish took the initiative with a break out of defence, switched the ball to DR Gough and then got on the end of Gough's cross to poke it home. Souness left it late to pick up the Buffs' mandatory yellow card on 44 mins. Bobby Murdoch replaced the hot-head at HT. On 48 mins Denis Law curled a FK in off the back peg for a 2-1 lead.

The Buffs were in control: the visitors still threatened but it was infrequent. Law had 2 more FKs in rapid succession to make it safe but missed the target with the first and GK saved the other. Buffs Mad brought Law off and sent on Ally McCoist - just before the opposition changed to 4-3N-3. It was the 77th minute when the Buffs reformed to 4-1-4-1 and controlled the clock for a 2-1 win.

    Goals: McNeill (26), Law (48).

After the 2 loss, 2 draw, 1 win start to the season and a stuttering climb up the table with 5 more draws the Buffs are now ramping up the pressure. Is it too late? Probably but not much else to be done other than fight.

Champions League: Buffs lose 2-1 at home in the 1st leg of the semi-final after fighting and scrapping for every ball.

The Canadian visitors were lined up, as expected, in 4-3W-1-2 so the Buffs prepared with a defensive counterattacking 4-5-1V.

Buffs enjoyed a good spell in the first 10 mins with a chance for Denis Law which was deflected. Two corners were then controlled by the GK and defence. The Buffs were holding the ball well for the first 30 mins until the visitors increased the pace. They carved out 3 good chances but the Buffs' Defence stood firm. Unfortunately, that pressure did draw another corner kick and Ivanovic nodded in a Torres corner to give the Canadians a 1-0 HT lead.
    Attachment 29531
After a rousing HT talk the Buffs came out all guns blazing in the second half and it paid dividends. In 45 mins Baxter skinned Ivanovic and hit the line to cross. Law sprinted for the front post but was closely double marked by the defence. However, the cross sailed over them all and midget gem Johnstone stole i at the back and rifled it home. Possession swung back n forth as either side tried to exert control but it was i the balance. Law missed a goot chance after 60 mins so Buffs Mad brought on McCoist to give the Lawman a well deserved rest - he had worked hard but it wasn't his day. McCoist then hit the side netting on the 70th minute. However, it was the anadian side that found joy on the counter-attack late on when Torress almost burst a lung to rip through the Buffs defence and cooly finish for a 2-1 lead. Straight from the restart Baxter tried his luck from distance but it was deflected past and again the corner was repelled. Buffs Mad could however sense frustration from the visiting manager as he made the change to 4-3W-3. It was almost the mistake the Buffs needed as the game one of constant pressure from the Buffs. McCoist was both Saint and sinner as he carved out his own chance with a sublime solo dribble, but a last ditch tackle folied him and another defender picked up the ball. But....a mistake and McCoist was on it like a Tramp on a bag of chips and fired a snap-shot goalwards....omly to see the visiting GK save it.

That was that. A 2-1 home defeat.

Afterwards Buffs Mad said "We fought bravely and played out of our skins. The Canadians can now go hme, relax and ref;ect on a win that will see them in the Final" and walked away before turning once more and bellowing "and then we will go there and rip their heart out, deep fry it and wash it down with a nice bottle of White Lightning. This is not over!"

League: Buffs FC were off to Nandos today. *nom nom* DC McNeill was suspended for 1 match so in came Alan Hansen.

They filleted, diced and roasted Nandos FC in a 6-0 triumph.

    Goals: Bremner (45), McCoist (46, 58), Gough (67), Baxter (70), Gemmill (81).

Highlights: (steals Alfyan's template ) CK Specialist Archie Gemmill picks up another booking and will be out of the home tie with the Leagues Leaders.

League: Buffs had one crazy home game against the leaders tonight. Engine trolled Buffs then Buffs trolled the opponent then the trolls trolled the trolls and everyone had a love-in on the centre spot as Buffs run out 3-2 victors.

So let's get the Admin out of the way. The visitors swaggered onto the pitch in a ND. With the Buffs minus their key midfielder they went for midfield strength and defiantly formed into 4-1-3N-2.

    Now.

How can I describe the start of the match.

Buffs have 3 good chances in the first 5 minutes but squander them. "Nevermind, we're doing well, we'll get more" thought Buffs Mad. Up the other end on 5 mins Gemmell tugs a shirt and is booked - FK to the visitors and McGregor saves. Corner and McGergor tips header over the bar. Corner and defence clears. Counterattack by the visitors and a shot is deflected for a corner. Its the 9th min and cross comes in and MC Murdoch pushes in the box > yellow card, penalty kick, visitors score = 1-0 down 16th minute Buffs MC Murdoch fouls on the edge of the box, second yellow and he's off. FK, McGregor saves. So down to 10 men abd Buffs Mad decides to stay in the 4-1-2-2 and prays for the 10 man boost........

    *boooooost*

    • 32nd min McCoist counterattacks and scores with a solo run through the middle = all square.

    *booooooost*

    • 37th minute McCoist plays a neat 1-2 on the edge of the box then fires home = 2-1 to the Buffs.

Half time comes and goes with Buffs Mad too stunned to do anything.

    *booooooost*

    • On 67 minutes McCoist is felled on the left and gets up to take the FK. Gemmell nods it home. 3-1 to the 10 men Buffs.

Buffs Mad at last blinked and whispered to Assistant Coach, Otto Teem "Just who's trolling who here?"

The visitors then switch to 4-1-2N-3 on 73 minutes. Buffs Mad says "Feck it, lets lay our hopes at the feet of the Gods." And the Gods then duly take the legs from the visiting DMC and he's stretchered off. On 85 mins they got a sub on but we've no idea where he played because it was a flurry of activity as the Buffs squeezed the visitors and applied the pressure. Then the visitors counter attack again, and then the Thugs, I mean the Buffs upended the attacker and McNeill went in the book. As everyone looked around the linesman flagged - Penalty! Bloody hell - 3-2 to the Buffs. After the restart......the ref blew. *phew*

Stupid game. Stupid Engine. Stupid win that takes us top. \o/ Stupid Bliss. Stupid Buffs Mad. Stupid Genius.

    Goals: McCoist (32, 37), Gemmell (67).
    Bookings: Gemmell (5), Murdoch (9 + 16 = OFF), McNeill (89).

The Buffs now have 2 players suspended for tomorrows league match and 6 players on 1 yellow. O.o

After the match Buffs Mad said "I is troll."

    ##############################

When the hunter becomes the hunted......

    When bravery turns to fear......

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza..... oops that one doesn't work.

League: Buffs FC's reign at the top is short lived as they crash to a 4-2 defeat to 5th. For the second league match in a row the Buffs have an MC sent off.

Buffs Mad has now taken out an injuction barring media commenta.......

Champions League: Buffs FC were thrashed 5-1 in the 2nd leg of their CL Semi.

Having been behind 2-1 from the first leg Buffs Mad was determined to try to stay in the tie and have a go.

Again Buffs Mad sent out his boys in a Defensive Counterattacking 4-5-1V against the opposition 4-3W-1-2 - partly due to 'philosophy and belief' and partly due to suspension and injury.

The Buffs went 2 behind in the first 21 mins but tried to stay in contention. A slight modificatio in orders was made after 30 mins. The Buffs pulled one back at the start of the second half and further changes were made. When it went to 3-1 down on the 66th min radical changes were called for to go 'All-in', although they went a further goal behind before the sub got on. Alas it was a futile gesture and the opposition closed out a convincing win with a 5th in 88 mins.

Buffs Mad said after wards "The score reflected a resoundind defeat but I remain proud of my lads in fighting all the way against a higher quality opponent."

Note: Formation shifts included from 4-5-1V to 4-1-4-1 to 4-4-1-1 at various points as the Buffs chased the game.

    Goals For: Baxter (49).

League: Buffs FC followed up their CL heartache with a 4-0 home win in the league.

The Buffs went ND against the opposition 3N-2W(DM)-2N-1-2.

    Goals: Bremner (36), Law (56), McCoist (59), Johnstone (78).

The Buffs remain 2pts behind with 2 to go and can only wait for any slip. (But will go into the next match with another suspension.)

League: Buffs FC record another 4-0 win, this time away, to keep their feint hopes for the title alive.

The opposition lined up in a 3W-1-3N-1-2 and the Buffs strode out in a 4-1-3N-2 with a late change to ND to rest some players.

The surprise was that all 4 players on a booking didn't attract the referee's attention and in fact no Buffs' players were booked.

    Goals: Law (5, 34, 78), Dalglish (7).

PS. The Buffs go top by 1 pt but must wait for the outcome of 1st v 4th.

League: Buffs FC snatch the title on the last day of the Season with 4-2 home win as the league leaders simultaneously slump to a 2-1 defeat.

    The Buffs went 4-5-1V v opposition's hex.

The Buffs dominated possession but the opposition's counterattacking was effective. The Buffs were 3-0 up after 60 mins and the title rivals were 2-0 down. Then it got interesting as Buffs opponent hit a purple patch with 2 goals in 2 minutes to make it 3-2.

Title Race position: The Buffs needed a win to have a chance and hope KayCee FC (rival) dropped points - a Buffs draw was not enough.

Denis Law (a half-time sub) scored his second on 71 mins and the Buffs ran down the clock. Over at KayCee FC they pulled one back on 72 mins to give themselves hope but alas accuracy had desertd them and there were no further goals..

    Goals: McCoist (30), Law (49, 71), Baxter (56)
