Some good points made here but here's my two cents. It's good to see two sides of the story.

I'm all for tanking as I am for power training. First of all, nothing is natural or realistic about this game so try not to include real life scenarios. You want to play good samaritan then good for you, but not everyone plays the same strategy. It's a sly strategy but is definitely not cheating. Cheating is having two or more accounts in the same league and giving yourself free points. First that's a facebook TOS violation and secondly the intent is to cheat. However with tanking, I see it a lot differently.

The big problem most people have is missing out on the Champions League and getting promoted. That I believe is worse than missing promotion in itself because you'll have no funds the following season to sustain a solid team. You'll end up being underpowered and just getting destroyed in every match. By missing promotion and tanking you are sacrificing your Champions League but with the same team in the hopes of a more successful league season. Fine by me, I'll keep winning league trophies and CL trophies while a tanker just takes it slow and tries to win a league. Remember, not everyone is a token buyer so a 35T a season team needs to budget and be economical with tokens so for them, tanking is the only way they can really have a chance at success.

As for disrupting league results, you are absolutely correct and that is a problem.

    Undefeated in league (11) - Levels 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14
    Cup winners (2) - Level 1 & 14

If this debate has drawn to a conclusion, it should end with the most balanced and sensible post that has been made recently, thus giving new readers a chance to make up their own minds.

i thought this thread went away already

    take me for example
when the league opened up i was 10th strongest (there were lots of previous token buyers). after i spent some skill points i became 8th. after buying 2 players i became 6th. i am now happily 3rd in the league with a very budget team of only 3 subs and a keeper. i did consider tanking early on, but yeah i think its just better to duke it out

yeah, you can call me Mr. Weirdo now

the situation in league that makes me tanking. i'm in 1st place until mid-season, and beat some half-assed token buyer, and then i face this heavy token buyer. in my mind if i can win to this guy, i'll keep on going, if i lose i'll withdraw from competition and tanking. then i lose in home, and he has serious team with many 8 stars, and while i'm tanking he keeps winning.

    this is my trophy room

if you had trophy room like will you risk for 2nd place?
in my case i won't take risk to contaminated my trophy room with 2nd place, can't stand it

You play for all the wrong reasons. Who (apart from you!) really cares what your trophy room looks like? To say you you are top of the league and the second you lose a match you switch to tanking is bonkers! but then again you are free to play as you wish. I am simply glad you are not in my league. Tankers are no better than In-active accounts.
