Cup defeats but I'm still trying to understand how??

Hi guys,

I've only played this game for a little over two months but I played the first round cup matches last night and today and lost both, but I can't understand how.

I'm level 4 and was drawn against the same - but it looks like my opponent has maybe tanked a couple of seasons as they've played since June. I just want your opinions on where I went wrong, because from what I can see my opponent played an illegal formation but was very hard to break down and even put 4 goals passed me. I initially thought the first leg was a troll win, but worse happened in the second leg!

Thats the beautiful side of playing agaist an illegal formation, you have 80% posesion and 4 goals against xD

There's no way you should have lost those matches. A disgrace.

This game does seem to have a habit of rewarding disorganised teams, or teams that set up to lose on purpose, and punishing players that try real hard to get the most from their players and team.

Has anyone from Top Eleven ever come out and explained these strange results and how terrible tactics win games like this? I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now without posting but I noticed there has been a few complaints like this without any explanation from Top Eleven.

In real life that teams tactics would lose so many goals!

Thanks for the comments guys. I must say my faith in the game and the validity of the game engine has taken a knock. I've just seen my CL draw and the player only has the bare minimum players and his squad selection is incomplete - could be an inactive player but if the same happens again I think I will give up on this game for good.

i don`t get why did you not go 4-4-2 and attack down wings ?

In this situation, i alwais put 3 stikers on the field.
You should tryin the future, because you allready have the possesion.
Skip the safe formation. Play 3w-2MC- AML-AMR-3, or some thing like that.

Thanks. I may not have played 4-4-2 from the start but I certainly attacked the wings, and also changed formation during the game (and even have used 4-4-2 during the first game) but it didn't make the slightest difference. This is why I tried the 4-5V-1 in the 2nd game. Bottom line is I spent 30m and tokens galore improving my team on the first day and then get beat by an "inferior" team so easily. Maybe I should try an illegal formation to test out the effectiveness?
