I agree with the rest of the post, but beware, passing is very important in a GK.

Also many keepers are superb shooters, free kick and penalty shooting specialists. Apparently in Serbia they never heard of Rogério Ceni.
yes but they need to put in GK specific skills:

Diving
Handling
Kicking
Reflexes
Speed
Positioning

Diving:

Simply, the distance that you goalkeeper can dive. The higher your goalkeepers rating, the less likely long range finesse shots will result in goals.

Handling:

The ability of your goalkeeper to hold onto the ball. Very handy if you are able to restrict your opponent to only long shots as a good rating will mean less rebounds from saves.

Kicking:

Almost non-existent in previous versions. In FIFA 14 there is a significant difference between a high and low rating in goalkeeper kicking. Evident through distance when used in normal game play, however during goal kicks a high rating will give you much improved accuracy.

Reflexes:

Much like the reactions attribute in outfield players. It is a measure of how fast your goalkeeper will react to shots at his goal.

Speed:

Another fairly simply explanation. A goalkeepers speed rating is how fast he is at coming out and meeting the ball before an attacker can get in behind your defense. Very good if you play a high line.

Positioning:

How good your goalkeeper is at placing himself in the right position in the goal to make a save. It is great if your keeper can dive from one post to the other. But if he is standing on the penalty spot, it will be of little use

As much as i would like to take credit for this I cant, its from FUT 14 Player & Goalkeeper Attributes Explained Guide - FIFA 14 Ultimate Team

point is, the $%@^$^$% that thought of this game did it half-assed and thought more about profits than actual gameplay. it is obvious since they neglected to differentiate between GK skills and outfield skills. Really, how can you have a complete football manager game without separate GK skills? Serious football manager games usually have trainers and you can train GK in their skills, but in this game, its one trainer and they do all the skills together like there is just a goofball outfield who gets voted to play GK and gets stuck there for the rest of the game.

piss-poor planning. funny how they have gone 3 years without this easy fix to make it more realistic.

greystoke, you are not the first to mention this, and wont be the last. as i mentioned, its been 3 years give or take and they still havent addressed this. makes me wonder why?

seriously, why? they dont know about tactics, formations, skills, quality, youth academies, but they know how to suck the tokens from you. these should be easy fixes for 100 employees at Nordeus. hell, they can add career stats now, but they cant add GK skills???
its their priorities that kill me. lets take something that is important to the basic gameplay, like GK skills, and not add it to the game in 3 years, but we will destroy the auction market in a day.

i have so many curses and swear words for the people responsible for this but I want to remain unbanned. You know who you are if you are reading this: just please, for gods sakes, fix the game properly. make it a legitimate football management game, not some fantasy football management wannabe, just for profit mickey mouse thing. please.
