I think this an area most tend to neglect when PT, most just check the gains and fail to notice the condition loss, check this and you can get a pretty good idea how many R/P you will need for the next session.
When i was doing PT on Kissi I applied them at circa 70% two at a time to maintain maximum gains to condition loss per pack, let them drop into the yellow, you either waste part of a R/P, if say the third takes him to over 99% or the second only tops him up to 85-90%.

So rather than just filling any vacant training mode I selected the best gain available while staying above the 70% bench mark for condition that I set.

Your saying that the player of mine sat with enough skill points to take him beyond the next star, will slow down tomorrow after maintenance.
We'll see! tomorrow then. My money is on he doesn't.

    Updated tonight.

I now intend to add the SP to Pardue.

Here is the update at the close of play today, from this my opinion is that the engine does not slow down a players gains when within one SP on a star. three other players in the same position are showing no difference in gains, they are 3*39/4*44/5*49 and Pardue 6*54.

    After another MOM award.

hi guys, im a level 2 manager and have decided to invest this season in some 18yos who i can hopefully train on and have them as useful players for at least a few levels to come.

I bought 6 guys, all valued at purchase between 1.5M and 1.75M, all 19 quality (3, almost 4* to me), all 18yos.

I've found they are training quite well and so i'm attempting to power train all 6 simultaneously to speed things along a little. They're all in my first team and usually play twice a day most days.

Is all of that and throwing some green packs at them for PT gonna be enough to get them to be 4* players for me at level 4 or 5 though or do people think that really i'm wasting my time hoping that these guys can be the core of my team for another 4 or 5 levels? Will they continue to improve at a similar rate as 19, 20, 21yos?

To give an example of the development speed, one of the 1.7M ones was signed the evening of day 1 this season and he had 299 skill points, just one short of becoming a 4* player for me. With very little power training involved, he's now got 352 before we consider day 14's gains, so 12 days, 53 points. Thats obviously encouraging, but will these guys be able to continue anything like that as they improve and age so that i could still be using them as 4* players in level 4-5 or do they simply not have it in them without lots and lots of PT?

Sorry for the long post, any advice welcome

    why people power train?
i power trained 3-4 players , choosing to do it on medium option (not hard) though? yes it take double of time, but less injuries overall, same tiredness if not less as i noticed they get more than double tired when you choose hard option?
so what is the advantage aside from the time issue?

I'd like you to try something out for me.

Pick one of your players who is very close to the next star or has enough SP to reach the next star and train him on all 3 training exercises. Record the skill gain values and then assign the SP to that player. After an hour, do the same and record the values again.

If there is no difference then assign all SP. If there is a difference, in that he was a faster trainer before gaining a star, then do not assign SP until you are finished.

This will prove that training speed is affected by unassigned SP

Ok dv8r I have done it with Patrice Evra, has 30 sp already and trained in all 3 stretching gave a gain of +11, Cardio +28 and Practice Match +35.

In an hour I will assign the 13 points he needs and see what happens then when I do the same.

Hope this will work as he currently has the points needed already. if not I am currently after an ML/AML on the transfer list who is currently 9SP short of going up a star level and will test it with him aswell

Ok dv8r here we go. I added the 13SP Evra needed to go up to a 6* scout. Then I have just redone all 3 training sessions and here are the results for you. This time they were Stretching +17, Cardio +34, Practice Match +32.

I hope this helps with what you wanted to test.

Yeah thanks, that's about the same, looks like the unassigned SP is recognised by the game and training speed is already lowered regardless if the SP are assigned or not.
