Palace teams report for Thursday...
Desert Rats FC finished their programme of matches first, and had a couple of contrasting results. Having a 18.4Q against their opponents' 24.4Q, the Rats were on a hiding to nothing in their home League match, and so it proved. 0-4 down by the 35th minute, a couple of substitutions seemed to steady the ship a bit. The opposition scored another midway through the second-half to make the final score 0-5, but there was another sting in the tail as Alfianto and Atanasov suffered injury, out for 4 days each. Playing against a team with exactly the same AQ but a Level higher, Desert Rats pulled off a fine win at home in the 1st Leg Cup match three hours later. Woolley (fit after an intensive session with the medical team pulled him through the final day of his injury recovery in record time), Taylor and new-signing defender Stannard scored in a 3-0 win.
Palace Casuals were at home in the League for their only match, and won an end-to-end battle 4-3. Recent-signing left-winger Garaev snaffled MoM with two goals and assists on the other two, scored by Shaqiri and Kaminski.
Interesting happening not seen before in a friend's match which the Management was watching just before the Casuals match:
Palace Terriers had a 1st Leg Cup match at home, and everything happened in the final three minutes. Striker Hall nodded in a Record corner to put the Terriers in front, but the visitors equalised with the last kick of the match to make the 2nd Leg match very interesting. The evening away League match was a more routine affair, Schmitt, Perez and van der Plas scoring in a 3-0 win which takes the Terriers close to the Champions League slots.
