^n is 'to the power of n'. ln is that logarithm thing, I used 'log' instead of 'ln' in high school.

It's a Geometric progression:
1.13*(1.01)^n=7.59
1.01^n=6.716
ln to both flanks:
n*ln(1.01)=ln(6.716)
n=191.4 ==> 192

Yes, that's why he has 1.01 in a bracket on the left side near the end. It was 1.01^n at first, when he added ln or log to both sides, the n moved to the front.
