Any ideas how to counter his formation? I've tried a defensive 4-4-2 with long passing and changed to hexagon in the second half (4 defenders due to injuries and suspensions). Posession was about equal, but he had double the amount of shots and shots on target. He's a little stronger than me.

I played a similar formation (especially the 4D-2DMC defence) several times last season and had the best results out of 4-3N-1-2... Normal/Counter/Short/Thru' the middle (yes, really). YMMV
