Home Guard FC Season 3 report.

League: Hampered by little cash and even fewer tokens, this was only going to be a season of consolidation for Home Guard. A few judicious purchases at the end of the first week when the initial Transfer Market frenzy had died down enabled the side to be mildly competitive, and they hung around the lower Champions League spots for most of the season and took advantage of late-season upsets for the teams around them to eventually finish a creditable third in the table.



Champions League: After a going through an admittedly poor Quality Group with a 100% record, Home Guard, like their senior team, ran up against a mega-Quality opponent in the Round of 16 but put up stiff resistance before bowing out 3-5 on aggregate.

Cup: Home Guard only lasted until the Round of 16 before meeting their match in the form of an equally rated team. After a narrow 0-1 defeat in the first Leg, they were leading the home return match 2-0 until the 88th minute, when a trademark unanimated corner situation gave the opposition a last-gasp away goal and Home Guard were dumped out on the Away Goals rule.

Associations: Home Guard received an invitation from an in-game friend, and decided to test the waters. With Home Guard on board, the Association managed 3rd, 1st and 4th places over the last three tournaments of the season, but still achieved promotion to Silver 3 Division.

Player of the Season; No contest, the stand-out player for the team this season, although Ellis Wardell was catching up at the end of the season, and deserves a mention in dispatches for his efforts this term. For the second season running:
