Next league opponent: is this real?

after my cup game in the morning I've got the following announcement for the next game at my home screen (I am on the right side - my club name is "FC Pock i ned"):

First of all I was wondering, why an opponent for the league was already showing up at the front page, because the league screen shows that the league will start at the third day.
Initially my team had 98% and so it wasn't so bad considering the strength of the opponent. But i checked the team-comparison afterwards and his stadium has already 31k seats although he is a level three manager and started playing ten days after me (06/11/2017). Is this even possible without spending a lot of tokens to accelerate the construction of the stadium?

All (srsyl all!!!) of his players have a special ability. Am I here confronted with a too ambitious player and obviously token buyer who probably got almost all of his men at the scout market? Only looking at his stadium capacity hurts. ^^ I will have no chance haha... I barely got close to his 108% by spending a lot of tokens for new players (as intended but yet...) , pushing my main squad and some new fast trainers.

Or is this a "visual bug" and I will not have to fight this guy? But why do I see already the upcoming league opponent when it clearly says that the league starts at day three of the new season. Oh and this match does NOT show up in the fixtures tab. Which seems also strange.

The league starts at the third day, but the league fixtures are made already. For now, if your next match is a league match, it will show up today. Its normal. Have you noticed your opponent does not have any player under the age of 22? So he obviously buys scout players, and a lot of tokens too!! What is his formation?

I can also see my league opponent, it's a normal experience d league draw is made at d start of d new season, same time with cup and champions league, but u don't see d draw until day 3

yes, the league draw now it's from day1 (we just cannot see it).
It's very possible to have many League opponents from your Cup or CH.L.

DL-DC-DR-DMC-3MC-AML-AMR-ST and then 3-4 min before the game, you 'll move your DL-DR to DC positions (if he still playing 4-1-3MC-2ST)

Thanks! Yep, I noticed this and also expected that his players are mainly fresh bought scout players. At the moment his formation is as follows: 4-1(DMC)-3N-2

Thank you as well for the clarification and I will post gladly my forthcoming experience in the upcoming league in this thread. :) And no, i don't think I will have a chance to win the League against such of an opponent but I will at least try to. ^^

Yes, for stadium he use token. For player, this days you can find high age, 2/3 positions 98% or 99% in the market, then adding 15/30 skills for 6* spend green or buy 99% players from nego market :)

Scout buyers are lazy trainers in my opinion. They just buy good players and expect them to perform well. You will have a good chance against him. The stadium is not going to help him. The quality difference is just little. So now just get a counter formation (if this even works anymore) and hope for the best.

Btw the SA of his defense suck with no aerial abilities. Penalty kick and corner kick is worthless. He has even 2 more corner kicks SA's in the team. More useless again. And he doesn't have a free kick specialist so his SA are not that much extra.

The game was a draw (2:2). I watched the game (and also another opponent manager of my league was on my side - I guess, he tried to suppress the by then strongest guy in the league. The opponent manager was absent.

I was 2:0 behind, then switched my formation to 3N-2W-2N-2W-1 (butterfly). Before that I tried it with 3N-1-3N-2W-1 (first defensive and afterwards offensive with no counter attacks). At the end I was happy to score two goals and get the draw. But I had the feeling, that there was more possible. ^^

Ah thanks - I never payed so much attention to the actual SAs (or tbh I was in this case completely overwhelmed)

I took a closer look at my league opponents and gosh... this will be interesting. One guy is tanking but he has a strong team already. But because of that his stats are not appropriately displayed in the following league statistics:

Average Quality: 32,4 (78%; without the tanking manager 80%); I am on the fifth place with 35,5 (102,2%)
Average age: 24,85: me: first place with 71
Average value: 33,84: me: first place with 63,7 millions

I am tempted to think about tanking this season. But not sure right now... Does it make any sense to you to tank in my case (this is just my third season) or is it somehow anyway to late (because I made no special preparations). I already pushed my team with power training and packs and bought some replacements but I am not planning to invest more. I already spent 25 Millions and approximately 140 for new reinforcements (a few fast(er learning) trainers and one recommended player).

Hi guys,

I scrapped the idea to tank this season. :) I will see how far I can go in league, cup and CL. I have opponents one league higher but I knew this would happen because I sticked to my 118% team and took my best men to the next season. I think I will try to manipulate the draw for the next (fourth) season but let's see first how it will go.

The previous mentioned manager with the scouts has lost his secound game against the opponent I will play today (in about an hour). The quality difference between them was not huge but big enough to think that the scout-man will win (111% vs 94%; scout-man did buy someone new since my game against him) . I'm not sure whether he was absent in his game but at the moment I think there are even better/ more involved teams with high motivation in my league.

My next opponent will (or at least I think he will) play with a 3N-3W-1-1-2 formation. I thought about trying again the formation proposed by Nik (DC-DC-DC-DMC-3MC-AML-AMR-ST) because almost all of my best players (except for two) can play with that. Other good options are 451V or butterfly (3N-2W-2N-2W-1), 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1, ND and so on. I think I can cover most of the usual positions. What formation would you use in my position (me: ~103 vs 94%)?

If I do miss some important information please feel free to let me know. I would like to use this thread as a kind of diary regarding my experiences in this season. And I would be of course happy to get some useful hints and advice. :)

DML & DMR can do some damage at counter attacks so I suggest to have DL&DR (so a 4-5-1V) and decide during the game what else you can switch

Thank you for your reply! The game was already over the time your answer has been postet but I actualy used the 451V formation and I won 2:0. :) So it was a good advice and good to know that DML&DMR can do some damage as well on the sides. Will take that information in the future into consideration.

Oh and btw: I hope you can understand me despite my rusty English skills. :D

Next up: 98% opponent vs my 103%. Regarding strength he is on the 7th place in my league. I am at the moment at the fourth place with one draw and two wins.

Not quite sure whether I should again use the 451V formation. Seems too offensive and his AML&AMR could be dangerous. Maybe butterfly would be better (DML/DMR with down arrows vs his AML/AMR). But an additional DMC would be nice as well and on the other side an AMC could do as I imagine some harm as well to him. So hmmm... Have to think about it. :) Maybe a classic 4-4-1-1 could do it, but I didn't use that formation for quite some time and I don't know if my defense could withstand his five attackers. His weakness I think is his midfield so I should put there more men than him?

Lost unfortunately quite badly this fourth round 1:4. Played first defensively (mixed mixed, counter ON rest off/normal). Opponent shot the first goal than my team scored. I think the mistake was (among others) to switch to offensive (counter off, offside trap on). Afterwards it went all really bad... :D Oppo manager was absent but another league manager sided with him.

Or maybe my formation was not suited enough for his one.

Statistics look allright. So either I did a tactical mistake or it was only pure bad luck.

Round 5 and again a tough opponent waiting for me! I am atm at the fifth place and it does not look very promising right now.

Todays opponent had initialy/ two days ago 105% quality (as I have at the moment) but reinforced his whole team again with a bunch of scouts and now every of his players have a special ability and his quality went towards 116%! This league is bananas! :D

He is playing 3W-1DMC-3W-1AMC-2

And yep, my league is a mess. :D No wonder one quite good opponent (~ 105%) switched to tanking after the first round.

EDIT: Haha, I only noticed by now that he even renamed his players. Which is cool (don't get me wrong, I like this feature and I think I will do this as well with some realy promising players) but on the other side a litte bit odd because he obviously had to spend a ton of tokens to buy them in the first place. The dude is taking it very seriously. ;) And this is only his third season (or at least this teams third season). Is p2w a big thing in T11? I mean I did spend some money as well but most of the tokens I got were through farming.

Well here is my quick report: I lost the game on saturday 5:0 against the #1 league opponent (his quality was at least 116% against my 105%) and it seemed that I had no chance although the statistics do look alright or at least balanced. I played first 4-1DMC-4-1 and after conceiving two or three goals switched to 451V. But it went even worse afterwards. ^^

Missed the game yesterday in the morning against a ~98% opponent but won 2:1. He was present and I even did not put any effort in my squad concerning formation, tactics etc. because I was too tired (and to be honest unmotivated after the previous big defeat) the evening before. But at least it went well. He is at the moment second to the last in the league so it was actually a "must-win".

First leg cup game yesterday was at first promising but I got two goals in the 82nd and 83rd minute and lost 3:2 outwards. Opponent was equally strong and watched the game as well. I hope I can beat him in the 2nd leg.

Today I am playing against the "worst" competitor in the league. Her (?) squad does only have 49%.

I think I really have to "manipulate" the draw before the upcoming season. I have invested quite a lot in new players (mainly fast trainers) but it is not even close enough to keep up with these guys in the league or later on in the cup and CL. I will take it as it is for now but yeah, it does quite suck a lot to invest a ton of time and effort to improve your team and at the beginning of the new season you do have no chance because of the draw.

One thing about the team you are facing, I never buy scouts but my team looks almost similar to the one in your first post. It all has to do with proper buying and scouting the transfer market a lot. My team consist of all 6 and 7 star players and propably 2 players of my team don't have a SA. Even half of my reserves have SA.

Oh and I got this after my 5:0 defeat, yay. :)

Okay, yes. I did already assume this is a possibility. But in the third league/season? Sorry, I don't think so. Except that this team is not the managers first. I don't want to offend or even criticize someone but it was my first impression and it still seems as he bought some/a lot scouts. Which is of course fine because it is not cheating or something else.

By the way: He (the manager I wrote at the beginning of the thread) is at the moment at the 7th place and did struggle obviously a lot. Currently there are other managers who are a lot more challenging in my league. Best example (I did describe here as well) is a manager who gained + ~10-12 % quality over one day by buying (I assume scout-) players and naming them as well . Another manager did improve his quality by buying some players by 8-10%. In the last case it does not look like he quickly bought only scout players but the previous one did it quite sure.

I don't know whether the manager I wrote about in my first comment here in this thread did buy only or at least a lot of scouts from the scratch but it seems to me this way. How else could he get such a great team at only the third season? :)

Yep I said that already as well ("Except that this team is not the managers first."). :) But nevertheless it does not seem very doable. I don't think you can farm so many green packs in only two seasons to improve your players to this point. One way or another you'll will need some cash to boost your token income.

But well it is alright. I will try to make the best of it. :)

It was a draw.

Cup game afterwards was a 1:1 and so my opponent won after the aggregated score of 4:3. Byebye, Cup (again^^).

Today was as well frustrating because I got another defeat in the league against an opponent with + ~8% more quality. I wouldn't say that this is a lot but I cant win against opponents who are slightly better or even slightly worse or equal in quality. I did not have this problem the two seasons before. Overall the statistics are quite balanced but my team can't score.

After the two days my team went down to the 8th rank in league and I'm again seriously considering to tank. This season is by now a disaster and I don't think I can at the end of the season take over at least the fourth place to get into the CL (I don't think as well to make it through winning the CL this seson although I am still in the competition).

It is quite risky to try to tank the season at this moment because I really don't know whether I can loose enough games to climb down the ladder. #14 in the league is also the one who tanks. #13 has only 50% quality (abandoned).

What do you think? Should I stick to my plan and take it as it is or should I consider/try to tank?

it's not too late for tanking or CH.L. exit but it looks a "bad" season for your team.

Updates, updates, updates!

I decided against tanking this season, mostly because I had a lack of preparation (pushing FTs etc.) and wanted to at least see what the outcome could be at the end of the season.

I don't want to jinx it but: The last days were great or at least definitely better. The first match after my last post had to be a secure win because I played against the tanking manager in my league.

So no big surprises here. But my first "wohooo" moment after a longer time was the 3:0 win versus the then #3 manager (approximately between 10-12% better than me) . Stats were also nice so it felt great.

The next two games versus lower quality opponents went also well (3:1 vs a -17% quality team and a 5:0 vs a -30% quality team). Then came a little but expected setback: Had to play again versus the then #3 manager against I had won 3:0 in the Champions league. I hoped to beat him because as already said the game in the league went quite well and he played with the same players and the same formation. I applied the same tactics but I lost 1:3.

Next up was the league match against the guy wherefore I originally created this thread. He pushed his team in the last days even more and he had ~ +15% more quality. But I had won! :)

Alright, so far so good. But the real highlight was the 2nd leg game in the Champions League. I applied the same tactics as in the two games before against the opponent but changed the formation. He played (at least almost) every time with a 4-2N(MC)-2W-2 formation. The first two games I tried something very defensive (4-1DMC-4-1) but after losing the first leg game i switched to 3-2W-3N-1-1. And the result was...

The game was so tense! After a draw in between the first 90 minutes the important goal dropped afterwards in the overtime.

The next CL opponent will be even slightly better so I have no unrealistic beliefs. But it was an unexpected and therefore great win and you can imagine how happy I was. :)

Because I don't want to have this mess again in the next season I also thought about dropping my quality. I searched the forum and it seems (or am I wrong?) that the league draw is also determined by the quality of the teams.

Is this surely correct? Or does it only apply to Cup and CL?

Hey guys,

I was too lazy and occupied these last days and did not get a chance to update this thread. ^^ Unfortunately I did not take any screenshots from the most important games in the last season and only did make some few notes.

But here is the outcome of the last season, which had a rough beginning and ended quite satisfying despite not reinforcing my team: I ended at the third place (wohoo :)), only one point behind the 2nd place team. I had some great league results against stronger teams and only lost at the end very tightly against the league winner and runner up. So despite being relatively weak (based on the average strength of all teams) my team managed to end up quite well. The 6-8th place should have been more realistic regarding my team's quality but I played mostly defensively with counter attacks and could catch more points then I was expecting at the mid-terms of the season.

The consecutively second win of the champions league against much stronger teams (expect for one opponent in the half finals, which was weaker and it was a close call at the end) was the climax of the last season. At first I was really frustrated, but it turned out well with a lot of commitment, studying of the other's team tactics and so on.

After the CL-win at the end of the season I dropped my quality because I wanted to avoid such constellations again. It was (so far) totally worth it and if you want you can read more in the following thread:

I think I will leave this thread alone for some time because first of all the name is quite misleading and I guess there are better places (like the showcase sub forum) to write about my upcoming experiences.
