Buying scouts on the first day of the season is advisable, because for that season they will be scout, and if they are a high end scout they can sometime be 1 quality away from being a star higher. So that's potentially 3-4 seasons before they will drop down to a 5 star player, if they are played and trained regularly & brought at a decent age.
Hmm, that's new info to me. Unfortunately getting 50 tokens without splashing any money takes a lot of patience. I've only bought 2 Scouts in my entire career.

Ive stopped buying scouted players...all i do now is buy 18 year olds on the first day of the season which are 1 point away from being 6* give them some heavy training and in no time at all they are 6*....that's how i do it....reminds me i must sell my 4* players as they are only 99 rated

The scouted players is great idea but if you can buy ... I think if you have enough tokens to buy full squad from scout, I think that it's cheaper than buy on server like mine ..

I want 200 tokens at minimum every season so as to buy full squad from 5* like in my level now (69 rate).
so if you spent 550 tokens in scouted players to get full squad they will develops with you and will remain 5 stars 99 for 3 season at minimum and in most cases 4 season.

So for me I didn't do it before to buy full squad from the scout buy net season I will think to do it.

Is not a bad idea to buy scout player aslong a scout player if he's young you can have him 3,4 seasons and then you will see, you gived few moneys and 50 tokens for a player who you will have it 3,4 seasons.

Heavy training as in more sessions or once/twice a day 'hard'? I'd like to know as I have 4 players close to gaining a star but don't want to get them injured in training, yes! the engine does it occasionally but I don't want to anger the engine.

I've obviously missed something here. How do you find out how many points a player needs to gain the next star?

You look at the players attributes

If it says something like 74.0 75.8 75 Then you know the next point will bring the overall from 74 to 75 which will give the player the next star.

Thanks. Now all I've got to find out is just how many skill points are needed for each star level. I am nowhere near the 75 points level. My highest ranked player is only just over 40.

Think you've got a little mixed up as he showed an example in the 70's
5 skill levels bring the next star, so a 40 would need to Avg 45 quality.

    5 Skill points = 1 Skill grade
    3 Skill grades = 1 Skill level.
    5 skill levels = 1 Star

28.6 28.2 29.2 would need 20 skill points for his next star at 30 Avg,
